Transfers January 2023 Transfer Thread. The Big One

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Doherty may not be HG for PL, due to his loan to a SPL club whilst at Wolves - the story I heard is that rules were changed in last year that players trained at a club affiliated to FA of Wales were now treated alongside those trained at clubs affiliated to the FA due to Cardiff and Swansea (both clubs affiliated to the FA of Wales) playing in English league system and the disciplinary processes of the FA of Wales now being dealt with by the English FA........ whereas the Scottish FA is entirely separate from the English FA.

So in short the definition of HG is now a player who was trained for 3 years at a club affiliated to The FA or FA of Wales (but not Scotland).

UEFA have not changed their definitions so an Association
trained player must have trained at a club affiliated to The FA (not Wales) - rule 45.05 UEFA Documents

so Davies is treated as Overseas trained for uefa purposes (unlike PL)

Your reply was a lot of words but you weren't really saying anything...

It’s reductive to say Levy is incompetent because there are things that have been done very competently and things that have not been done competently. Some things have been done as well or better than anyone else. So to brand Levy incompetent is rhetorically satisfying but not very helpful.
...this is a very good example of such. You imply I'm wrong without any supportive evidence other than the strength of your assertion.

What has he done right on the football side that you could attribute to design and not chance? We'll wait... If you answer honestly then you'll come full circle to my Occam's razor point and the misaligned incentives of ENIC and supporters which began our back-and-forth. This is fun...

It is ridiculous to think that one would not affect the other. As far as i know it was Matthew Collecut who said it wouldn’t affect spending. Whoever it was, that was dumb as shit. We had the evidence of Woolwich before and it’s just common sense. I don’t think anyone should have been duped.
No it's not. You are quick to disregard people word even without counterfactual evidence. And the funny part is it was folks in your camp that trumpeted the loudest about it not affecting transfers. The man said it wouldn't, folks like you like to send him virtual reach-arounds for being the greatest and smartest chairman that's ever existed, but now you're saying it was ridiculous to say it wouldn't affect xfers. Do you have proof of your ruse busting? I'd love to see it.

They had been planning for years and he said it wouldn't affect things so I absolutely took him at his word. Stupid me but now I believe very little of what he says. So why do you believe anything he says? Did you think we were going to get a DNA manager?

None of that changes the reality which is that we had less money to spend for a few years.
How is that possible? 4 straight years in the CL and ~400M not expected. It's possible because spending doesn't guarantee success is his mantra. So that money went elsewhere instead of the line functions of the club.

So yeah, Levy is competently ripping off supporters but he is even doing the bare minimum on the footballing side incompetently...in that, he could be doing it cheaper and more successfully.

Gvardiol texted me asking for a sofa to kip on whilst he gets settle in London.....

Think you’re supposed to tag Turkish Airlines as well

That player better be a Maddison, a Skriniar a top player then, don’t want to replace him with someone of his level which is potential.
Again said it before the transfer policy is complete shambles. We swap lamela plus £20M(?) fir Gil. Don’t play last season then out on loan. Had some games recently and showed promise. Now we want to get rid. Where is the joined up thinking? We shouldn’t get rid of any of the young players especially the ones conte seems to not want. As he may go in June abd we’d be left with a load old garbage who should be the first ones leaving like dier, sess, davies, Doherty, royal, etc. they consistently failed for us. yet we are willing to sacrifice players we purchased for long term with potential who have not even had a sniff. Soence , Sarr, white and Gil should be the ones we develop like goons did with their young players not get rid of! Ffs!

Feb 1st I fully expect the old lessons have been learned cliche trotted out. The trouble is they are never learned , Poundland has been kept back a year in school every year for 23 years for failing to understand the core subject , footballing success

At least ride with him here til the Summer. Richy & Son still struggling.... 3 comps... So much ball to play still..... We're not gonna rush out and get anyone else before Wed.

I s'pose we have a problem now with Paratici's influence fading or altogether binned... i.e. there's no-one to advocate for these young lads like Gil, Sarr, Spence if Conte can't be arsed and wants rid . :(
Shocking and the ticket himself isn’t commuting! Why are we getting rid of these players and not others who have proven to be crap ?

Just really dispiriting.

Young, talented players but we have an utterly inflexible manager.
I mean this cant carry on can it. We've got Udogie coming in the summer as well and obviously keen on Hincapie. I think fans keen on Conte staying really need to think about what that means in reality. Loaning all that lot for another season? More Sess Dier, Davies? I think the fact we're loaning and not selling them tells its own story though.
