What we’re we even doing for the first 2 weeks of this window?

Why weren’t all these meetings with sporting happening at the start of the month or even before the window opened, why did it take to the last week of the window for us to start making serious offers?

This is the result of that, you get this close to the end of the window and the selling club can fuck you as they know times running out and you need the player.

though to be honest i'd put up with Emerson and Doherty for the rest of the season if we took that 45 mill plus whatever is left and bought a CCB to replace Dier right now.

But of course that wouldnt happen, we'd get Conor Coady on loan with an option to buy for a box of corn flakes

YES. EXACTLY.

For the love of God, I haven't seen anyone who would have argumented - why do everyone insist on paying 45 mil for a niche position that most coaches do not use (and current one that uses has 5 months left; player will be signed for 4-5 years), while we have glaring issues in the position that EVERY TACTICAL LINEUP in existence uses ?!?

To me CB would be first position.
2nd CB would be third.
Passing and ball retention-oriented CM 3rd.
And RWB fourth pressing need.

until yesterday the excuse was that the player wanted to play the final with his team.
likely the real reason is we don't value him 45M and try to lower his price with time

It's an obvious move...... I don't understand why the club can't see it.
With a strong enough bid we could get him now too
.... Or at least get him to sign for free on a pre-contract now.

For Fuck sake man just get it off your chest and call out Levy for the tight money grabbing, penny pinching, profiteering cunt you know he is. You know you want to.. You'll feel liberated mate, I promise.

Per Paul O'Keefe Sporting lied regarding the release clause. It was either apparently only valid during the first 12 days of the window, or only activates in the summer. So they've been stringing us along all window to try and get as much money as possible out of the deal.

This is similar to what they did when they sold Bruno in January 2020. They dragged their negotiations with United out all month and only sold him on the 29th, after "cancelling" it on the 28th.
bollocks.

Porro and his camp would know the details of his contract and he wants the move. You telling me they just kept quiet?

so all month we only get danjuma

joke
January is a difficult window though and we can't allow ourselves to be held to ransom. Probably better to keep our powder dry before attacking the Summer Market with gusto. We'd do well to remember, signing footballers isn't like buying a pint of milk from the local corner shop. Remember what happened to Leeds and Portsmouth? I'm sure our squad will step up to the plate for the rest of the season. And we'd all much rather finish 6th and win nothing doing it the right way than finish 4th and winning silverware by spunking our wealth on the squad. "Don" Levy knows what he's doing, guys. As always, he has the long term interest of the club at heart.

I can smell the sarcasm 😂

We missed that boat, he signed for chelsea. :kanehand: :contesmell:

Of course they would

My guess Levy pissed them off over the last 3 weeks nickel and dimeing, they decided vengeance is a dish best served piping hot

Could you imagine selling your house to Levy, you would sooner burn it to the ground in the end
It's easy to blame Levy here, he has been guilty in the past, but Paratici's role is to negotiate the deals.
