Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I wouldn't blame Conte that much this season with all the shit that he's been dealing.

However my choice would be Poch. This side needs ruthlessness, and the only one that took absolutely no prisoners when he first came, was Poch.

Yes the Poch that first came and then the Poch that nearly took us to new heights but not the Poch that got shafted by Levy because he gave up and I’ve no confidence that it wouldn’t happen again

One thing is for certain. If/when Conte goes, I'm backing Poch all the way to relegation. Problems here run much deeper than the manager.
Absolutely, but there's a problem.

The amount of times we went 1 or 2 down at half time then utterly dominated or way back showed that the team clearly has the ability.

Conte simply hasn't got the best out of the team

Difference is this time the vast majority would rather go down to the National League with Poch than turn on him. Last time around, we turned our backs to Poch because we thought we needed a manager who only needed to make that final step, not recognising that the biggest issue was the players.

For me Conte is better than Poch (my respect to Conte is so tremendous that I think that only Klopp is a better manager than him), but Poch is what this fanbase needs, so for the benefit of Conte and Spurs, he needs to go and Poch needs to come back.

If he goes now, and I mean tonight, it will give us at least some chance of getting top four and winning the FA Cup. Both of those achievements are well within our reach with the right manager and system in place. Although Bentancur being out for the season will significantly impact that.
We’re not getting near Top 4. There will be no ‘bounce’ this season, especially as Betancur could be out for the rest of it.

Our defence is hot dogshit. You cannot field that back three and expect anything.

We play some of the worst football in the league. We have no business getting CL.

The knee jerk in me says Stellenni & Mason gave us a masterclass in preparation, planning and execution just a few days ago, resulting in our best performance of the season against the champions just a handful of days ago.

Conte comes back and has us deliver our worst performance of the season against a relegation threatened team (I will add that Leicester played very well last week too, clearly having their injured players back means their performances can expect to improve).

The most striking thing here though is that against City our game plan was a different approach. Whereas today’s was eaxactly the same as Conte has done every single game this season.

Perhaps even more telling, was that against City that change of approach happened after 10mins or so, they identified an issue and made changes to address the problem and put us in control of the game and win it.

Conte never changes anything, same system, same problems, same terrible performance.

To take this season in isolation: He’s had a pre-season, been given players that he wanted, all purchased BEFORE pre-season so he could work with them. We are worse, we’ve not improved on last season (he was great last season).

Just on this evidence he has to go.

I can stick with a manger if I can see what they are doing, how they want us to play. I saw us play well under Poch but not get a positive result so I remained engaged and totally supportive. Also the vibe was positive.

That’s the opposite to what I see now.

The only defense I can put his way is
1. that this season was always going to be very different due to the World Cup. - we had more players that’s most attending. City look flat probably as a result of this and maybe Liverpool and Chelsea too (goons only had a small handful of players there).
2. We have had very significant injuries to key players.
3. Both he and the club lost what appears to be a very influential member of this team in GPV.
4. He’ then lost TWO more very close friends
5. Can’t underestimate these losses enough when his family aren’t with him in the UK
6. Now his own illness and surgery

Last of all he hasn’t committed his future to the Club the fact that we also haven’t activated his extension clause is also very telling!!!

He is good but I’m right on the edge. Today I’m out mainly because I do not see/feel any progression. I’ve nothing tangible to hang on to. All I have to defend him are excuses.

Sorry for long answer but it’s helping me also to clarify where I am in my own head as I type

We are a weird club. Conte in general might be a better manager but for Spurs Conte is not as good as original Poch or anywhere near.

Our best managers have always been wild choices like Jol, Redknapp and Poch. Managers able to entertain and work on tight budgets. That rules out Jose, Pep, Klopp, Tuchel, Conte, Zidane, Arteta etc as good Spurs managers.

But it opens the door for Gallardo, Ten Hag, Potter, Poch, De Zerbi etc.

What is weird is that the club itself doesn’t understand this and still hires managers that don’t fit.

Don't overreact to one game.

Porro and Perisic's quality in possession is what's needed to make this system work.

Get Romero back in there, give Hojbjerg and Skipp/Sarr a defensive remit and build things through the flanks.

No Bentancur = 352 makes more sense than ever..... BUT with Biss out too (and White, Winks, Ndombele & GLC out on loan) we only have 3 CMs fit.

I don’t agree but fair points made

Despite where we are in the league it feels like it did in the last weeks of AVB. If we lose to Milan, West Ham and Chelsea he’ll be gone.
