I grew up in south London too and while I immediately took onboard the rivalry with Woolwich cos of who and where they are I despise Chelsea for what they are. In the 80’s the Right-Wing/NF links can’t be overlooked. In the PL era it’s been the dirty Russian money (& their unfathomable dominance over us!).

I had a book published a couple of years ago on London football fan culture, focussing on rivalries. This one has a particularly nasty history going back, as far as I could tell, to the 1967 Cup Final.

Anyway, I don’t care what optimistic media bollocks comes out if the club, it’s obvious we have an inferiority complex when it comes to Chelsea. Our record is shameful. In spite of their current malaise, I’m fully expecting these cunts to ‘turn up’ on Sunday - exactly the fixture they need right now….calling Dr Tottenham

Chelsea's billionaire sugar daddy status is actually consistent with their history. Stamford Bridge was originally built with a view to leasing it to Fulham and when they knocked it back, the rich businessman who built the stadium founded Chelsea, fast-tracked them to the football league and took all of Fulham's gate money.
 
Hate Spam and Woolwich for purely football reasons, and I really do. But without the tribalism football would be so much less interesting so at least I'm glad they exist.

Hate Chelsea because they're just the original Man City. Pre Abramovic they were justa bit "meh". Yeah, now I hate them because they just buy success with someone elses money, but if they ever properly revert to their natural level it'll all be a bit meh again.

Over the years I have had a peak at sKUMB and a few other teams forums. I could not bring myself to ever look at a Chelsea or Woolwich forum. Instant eye cancer.

I haven't spoken to a Chelsea fan in real life for 23 years. Hopefully I go to my grave never having spoken to another one.

My Uncle, unfortunately, is a Chelsea fan, and he dropped me on my head when I was like 9.

I'd far rather have an "average" Arse fan than an "average" Chav one. More knowledgeable, funnier, more understanding of the boundaries in terms of friendly back and forth...

Horribly misguided of course but better people in my experience.
