Right...sooooooo, conversely, what does it say when a player more often than not is underwater of his xG? Asking for a friend...

Foreign spot, Deuterz! It is what we are dealing with right now...and as I've stated many a season ago this nonsense is used to block real team building...and he ain't getting 20 goal contribs..and even if he does it's shiny objects, man. What else does he do? And Michael Olise was 20M, English, and available...but we went here...still need HGs...

The bold is true though.
Yes Pat has overlooked a lot young HG players.

This is an oft-proffered argument but it's poor on it's face...we are also poor at getting non-Brexit talent...Deuterific solution: NO MORE TRANSFERS!!!!

A better take is, if you are buying shit then why not pay less for it AND satisfy another imperative? Or do you just like to buy expensive shit to show folks that you are hot shit? Hot shit always ends up being a cold turd, Deuterz.

Yes, yes it is...and it is one that retaining the likes of Kulu will complicate. And though you scoff at the 40M thingy it is real and he will then be kept until his amortization numbers are good relative to market or buying him out. He will be here for 5 years, a player identified even before he kicked a ball for us as probably not good enough. If that's not locking in a ceiling then I don't know what is. Are you one of Levy's influencers like VichySpurs is?

We are but I would class Kulu as good non-Brexit talent. He's not as extraordinary as some thought but he does contribute and he is, fundamentally, a good footballer. For 40 million & someone who is adapted to the squad & young I'd say he's worthwhile as an option.

That only works if you think he's shit. Do you? He's quite good. I think his market value would be above 40 million at this point.

No scoffing at 40 million. But in 2023 that's the market value price for a decent squad player, which Kulu is at a minimum. As for the non-HG issue, there are a whole host of players I'd rather we get rid of to solve that. Would I like us to bring somebody in on the right to challenge him? Absolutely yes. Do I think he's good enough to be a Spurs player? Yeah, even if we suddenly became ambitious tomorrow. Lots of much worse footballers for very successful teams.

The TL;DR version would be that if we didn't buy him I wouldn't be devastated or anything. He's never a player I've rated as much as 90% of this forum does. But I don't think it would be a bad decision to secure it permanently either.

They haven't. He's making mistakes that he wasn't making last season. His crosses have become a lot less reliable, he's become indecisive, doesn't shoot after cutting inside even when the defence parts like the red sea.

His energy isn't the same either tbh, most likely due to the injuries.
Ok...so you expect things to improve significantly from where they are now? And not on a game here, game there basis but on real and consitent basis? And not just against the shit teams like today but against the teams you'd want your best players to show up.

Bookmarking so we can return to this topic in May.

But you are saying this while he is here. If we didn't have him and you knew you had whatever the combo of loan/purchase money is, then knowing what you know would you run out and go buy your boy Kulu?

See my previous point...you have the money, Deuterz...spend it!

No, the TLDR is..."I'm Deuterz and the only player I love close to as much as I love HK is Kulu. To not secure his services permanently would be a crushing blow to my emotional well-being."

And give yourself some credit, it was probably 99%...it was only a small cadre of folks questioning this is how I remember. And after his first goal when he moved to being WC then it was only a handful left...with there being a shiny object in play I'm sure you were teetering.

How can someone so ginger be so invisible?

Is he shitting it in case Megan Merkle is after another for her stable?

Agree with all of that... plus opposition defensive coaches have worked out a way of reducing his threat.

Teams have him under control now they know what to expect. Its up to him as a player to evolve.

I also feel the change in tactics havent helped. He gets fouled so often with his back to goal and players go through him. Ref never calls a foul for it either.

He's just a player out of form.

None of that front three are hitting heights. Kane is getting goals because that's what he does but watch him, even he's out of form. He was controlling games in the second half of last season when our front three clicked.

This year? Nope. Son hasn't hit form all season. Kane is scoring goals but seems to have substituted his all round game for it and now Kulusevski post injury has dipped massively.

We should absolutely persist with this player...40M's a snip...there are no warning signs whatsoever...we ALL know what we saw last years...there's world class in this player...he's got goals in him...sign him up...

We’ll buy him 100%. And then we’ll spend the next decade making excuses that he’s simply not being utilised properly and hoping XYZ manager can get the best out of him. We love giving average players cult status.

I said at the start of the season. Bang average player thats just popular and has a large twitter fanboy following for some reason.

Might be harsh but Im just done with this BS now. Happens too often. Half our squads out on loan cos they dont know how to play football. Go ahead and add another to our collection.

What are oppostion teams doing different from last season? I don't see that they're using any kind of special tactics to stop him. He's still getting plenty of space on the right and getting 1v1 against their defenders just outside the box.

Obviously on a poor run of form after an injury-disrupted season, but the lad's only 22yo with 7 goals and 13 assists in 30 starts. G/A return of 0.66 are not horrible numbers, despite his being way off the boil of late.

I'm looking forward to seeing him play centrally as a 10 (his self-professed favourite position) under a different manager, where he can pick a pass and navigate the game at a different pace.
