We need a manager like Redknapp or Martin Joel. Any around?

I don't think Poch is the answer. Any such reunions has failed in the PL and in life generally.

Why do some fans want Poch back? He had limited success then turned sour and was sacked. He had the best squad to win the league and CL, failed to win a cup. What is going to be different this time round when squad is weaker?

That is kind of the point. That squad was not the best, under AVB/Sherwood we thought it was crap and deadwood. Rose, Walker, Dembele even the likes of Eriksen not great, Rose was actually terrible and played mostly like a Championship player.

We now have another bundle of talented often underperforming young players. Romero, Bryan Gil, Bissouma, Sessengnon, Royal, Udogie, Skipp, Kulusevski, Richarlison etc. in effect we would be asking the same job of him.

We ain’t winning the Prem or CL with any manager while we have these owners. The question is can we play better football and at least sort of challenge.

Poch might not be the answer but a manager who can do similar things with players that need development is the answer. Conte and Jose don’t do that, they mostly already have elite players. We need a manager who can provide exciting football while lifting and improving average to good players into decent or great players.

The one big thing Poch/club did when he first arrived was move deadwood like Kaboul. Whoever comes in the club has to move on players and fast.

He MADE that squad over achieve on a shoestring. Do you honestly think any other manager would have achieved more with it?
Mourinho tried and failed spectacularly

Desperation for a time when things all seemed so much better. It’s like pining for an ex because you were really happy together for a while but you kind of forget why you broke up.

I would absolutely welcome Poch back and appreciate what he did for us, but I don’t think it’s the right move. It’s more about issues with Spurs than Poch at the moment though.

Add Porro and Bentancur, who are in the same age spread as the ones you name, and you can see the rebuild is going on. Maddison and Gvardiol would be in the same age span as well. With Emerson, Romero, Gvardiol and Udogie you can play a back 4 and have 3 in midfield with Maddison as the creator.

One item agenda.

The squad was brinful of talent.

I think there werw 2 transfer windows that could not be defended but what the squad needed then was a Cantona/Keane character and bot expense for the sake of it.

Cometh the losses cometh the monetary references.

Fuck off Fabio

Fuck off Conte

But the big FUCK OFF goes to levy.

Poch deserves better than working under that cunt yet again.

(He said he was merely "a coach" - which was false anyway... He was promoted to manager after Paul Mitchel left...... Hitchen wasn't promoted to the same level that Mitchel was previously cos Poch was propelled higher up the foodchain.)

I'm not (personally) "suggesting" anything........

Like I already said; the comments you are alluding to were a response to a journo's question. A question provides context to the answer. It's an additional aspect to the comments that you're not prepared to factor in.

Let's back up slightly to something else you glossed over.... IF Poch has no say in player signings then why is there a long list of players saying that he was the won that talked them into coming?

What he actially said was that the club should change his title back to coach because he doesn't/didn't have the responsibilities of a manager and only those of a coach...

Yep.... They're all on TFC.... Over the last 7/8 years. or so.... I don't have them bookmarked, and there's a hell of a lot to soft through, but by all means; dive in. 👍

Had a google and couldn't find any quotes from them saying they were identified and targeted by the manager.

Strange.

Anyway, this stems from you saying there were no question marks over the signings made in his last window - I'd have thought there would be some unequivocal proof to hand that shows, without question, that they were Poch targets - afterall you're the only one make conclusive statements on the subject so i think the onus is on you to provide some evidence. I've shown why i think there is some doubt to be had, you haven't supported your position which eould be quite easy to do if it is as cut and dry as you suggest.

I don't want Poch personally, but it he does come back they need to actually back him and stick by him during the bad patches. There needs to be a long term plan with Poch.

I don't give a shit if we're 8th next season and fans are crying for him to get sacked. If he's your guy, then fucking back him.

Yeh, I'm sure the way that search engines work that, as long as you you googled the words "Ndombele" and "targeted" then all the goods will just magically pop to the top of your page.

.........Funnily enough, you might have run into the very reason why I can't be arse to go looking for such old comments, tweets or articles.

I'm not the only one to cite such comments (not even in the last page or two!); but if you wanna instead conclude that I'm just lying then c'est la vie.

Levy would try to convince poch that all is different, with money for an all out assault on the league title.
But in reality, the situation is now worse, with the team struggling to make an assault for top six.

Honestly, who gives a shit? Theres a reason why fans are not paid to make those decisions.

Not every manager deserves patience, they need to earn it. The board need to have a plan and determine if the manager is the right guy to take us forward even during periods when the results aren't great.

Do you go to games?

There’s a reason that what fans want is at the very least listened to / heard by the owners and has a direct effect on the players.

But Arteta finished 8th/8th/5th to get to this point.
The 5th place finish they threw away 4th place to us. A total meltdown.

Are you are saying you would be happy with that over the next 3 seasons?

No guarantee what comes in season 4…..

I think Poch will have a good understanding of the situation and where we're at. It's not like he hasn't dealt with Levy before.
