Is Unai Simon any good? Just wondering because we're linked with Enrique and he was the GK that Enrique started at the world cup over Raya.

Is Gastón Edul reliable? Does anyone know if he broke the Lo Celso or Romero news? I can't remember

I can't lie I'm not a fan of signing Emi Martinez especially when David Raya, who is younger but also homegrown, is available

I'm not a big fan of Martinez either - but he joined Woolwich in 2010 so Martinez might be HG as well. But his contract at Villa runs until end 2016/17 so not sure he'd be cheap. I'd prefer Raya too

He's very average, entire reputation is based on a few world cup performances, where he wasn't even the best keeper, and really probably only top 5 at best. Would be a standard spurs buy though: piss money up the wall on an aging average player based on tournament performances for their country, and not his consistently mediocre performances for a team in in the same damn league. Can't say I know too much about good alternatives, but this is a huge downgrade if he's to be Hugo's (in general, not current Hugo) actual successor.
All true.

But…

…fuck it, I’m in.

I'm also not a fan of Martinez, but just to confirm, he spent July 2010 to July 2013 registered to English teams prior to turning 21 in September 2013, so he is considered homegrown.

It's likely Martinez will only get worse, whereas guys like Raya and the Georgian fellow are going to get better and are already at or near his level.

He's a good stop/gap for a couple of years until we can try to for the next big thing. Because of Kulusevski and Porro's transfers, money looks to be tight this summer, unless the bald prick decides to sell the club (please God).

Obviously my first choice would either be Diogo Costa or Raya, but Martinez is an extremely good GK too.
What makes you think he'll be cheap? Nevermind that he's not actually all that.

One of the best GKs on the planet.

Does Unai Simon have a release clause?

If Spurs are serious about pursuing Unai Simon, however, the Basque 'keeper won't come cheaply or easily. He has a contract with Los Leones until 2025 which contains no release clause, a statement of loyalty that has been a feature of numerous recent contract renewals at San Mames.

"As long as Athletic want me here, I'll stay," said Unai Simon the last time he was asked about his future.

"I owe the life I have to Athletic and I want to pay them back the best way I can, which is by defending the goal at San Mames in every game."

I thought that in Spain it was ruled that every player has to have a release clause and yes I know it says no release clause but there is little difference

Buying players from Bilbao is almost impossible.

Not a fan of Martinez, I think he's massively over-rated - although on pens he's probably one of the best in the world.

Would prefer Raya, great with the ball at his feet and a superb shot stopper.

Would think Villa would want the same amount of money for Martinez that Brentford would ask for Raya?
And with Raya being younger definitely would prefer him now.

My point is not about whether Harry might choose to go or not . I think he might well leave and I would not blame him . My point is he could after the way he clearly felt he was shafted dig his heels in . Levy cannot sell him if Kane says no

i think Harry has the far better hand now , he would back himself season after next to be more than a squad player, at least I think he would
How long can he expect to play at the top level? Until he's 33-34? Even going on a free, he's not going to get the same contract at 31 as he would at 30.
