Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The point is that he's had enough time to get him replace him or get some better players in, if he was such a problem we would have spent our approx £200m outlay since he's been here improving on him or that area, we haven't bought in 1CB in 3 windows and I'm not including Romero or Lenglet in that.

When your a manager getting as much money as he is on a short term contract your priority should be to sort out the weakest areas of the team, not play politics with the board in the hope that they'd get the message, if it was such an issue why have we bought in 3 forwards in that time for example?
He doesn't replace anyone, he asks for replacements and the club bring them in. That's the point - he isn't responsible for recruitment as you know.

I don't believe Conte is satisfied with his CB options at all, he's not stupid, he's spent his whole life in football, him nor his staff are blind. The club hasn't brought in any of quality since he's been here, only Clement who's meh like the others (bar Romero).

We needed forwards too, a decent back up to Kane we've been crying out for for years and we needed some brains in Kulu. We didn't need Danjuma on loan from Seville who was just about to sign for Everton.

When did he play politics with the board over his centre half options?

I can't believe how we threw away that 2 goal lead. We all know we are the unluckiest team in the league when it comes to referee and var decisions. I still think we can get 4th. I saw united yesterday and we are better than that lot. They are a lucky team. As for conte I really wanted him to stay and be given a long contract but I want him out. His disrespect for our great club is the last straw. He should not be upsetting our players. Our players need encouraging and motivating not critisicising. Players like son and dier do not need to be hearing his criticism. That will not inspire our players. Also levy deserves more for what he has done for the club. His made us one of the biggest sporting commercial companies in sport. This is helping us to compete. You can see that we will be able to spend so.much more on players in the next few years. It is all down to levy. Get conte out now. I want that de zerbi in immediately.

Can't believe there's people still defending him.
I agree. I was before Saturdays game his most loyal supporter as I thought he would take us to greatness. His comments on our club has got me so angry. I have been fuming all weekend. This is a great club and we will be competing for the biggest trophies in years to come but he thinks he is bigger than the club. I hate him so much. He betrayed us with those comments. I feel so sorry for our players having to hear that. They don't deserve this treatment. They are my heroes. We can still get third but conte must go.

I want de zerbi at our club either in the next 2 weeks or in the summer. He will be better option than pochetinno. He will give us a winning mentality and some great attacking football. Poch will just give us a bit of attacking football but with the losers mentality. Let's get him. You think he would turn down spurs to stay at a little coastal tiny club like Brighton that will lose their best players in 6 months.

We are not going to bring players in unless the manager signs off on them or is happy to okay them. There's been one constant with the criticism of the transfer window in the Summer for example which was Spence, the rest of the players we haven't heard a peep about, does that suggest to you he's unhappy with the club's signings? It doesn't to me.

We have bought in around 10 players since Conte has been here and one of them is a half decent centre half on loan, you have to ask why then if our defence is so bad or he he couldn't get a tune out of them than a CB wasn't prioritised in the short term at least.

We needed forwards you're right but we are talking about priorities - we spent the last 2 windows chasing Zaniolo, we bought in Richarlison for £60m yet doesn't play him, we bought in Danjuma (who yet again he doesn't' play) when he in fact wanted Deulofeu.

And if he's continually picking a player in order to send a message to the board then he is indeed playing politics with them.

The issue I have is that there's too much pointing fingers at the board when

a) He's been backed more than any other manager we have had in our history.
b) He's an elite coach who is meant to get the best out of what he's been given.

Now you can say that he hasn't 100% been backed to the tune with who he wants and I make you right, but what manager gets everything they want? And for a manager who has no intention of commiting what kind of backing are you actually expecting the club to give him, why would you go all out if the manager has no intention of sticking around AND he's not getting the best out of our current players?

De Zerbi has walked in to a job where the team has been set up and coached to play the same way the past few years- he's got to show what he can do when the team is all his before anyone should be thinking about him as an option.

Can't believe there's people still defending him.
For me, I don't really care what he said. There was alot of truth to his statements and he was frustrated so whatever. But I want him out because I just can't bear to watch anymore of his dinosaur negative football. And his only tactical change is from defensive to even more defensive. Always a back three. Always getting overrun in the midfield. Curling up into a ball and soaking up pressure from bottom half sides. It's mind numbing to watch.

Good manager adjust their tactics to the competition and the strength of his players. Conte seems unwilling or unable to do this.

Rubbish. Brighton played okay football but he has taken them to the next level. He is what we need. I think bringing poch back will be a bigger risk. Let's move on and hire an exciting manager that can take us to the next level. Also getting him in we can maybe grab macallister and mitoma. I would like these 2 players to come with him. He is a better coach than arteta and potter. He is brilliant.

Isn't the problem that we have a world class stadium, we have had two world class managers in a row now (admittedly Jose had declined) but we don't have a world class team?

It's like spending a million on a new house and filling it with mediocre furnishings.

Your completely wrong. He disrespected the whole club. He tried to humiliate us. Whether you agree with him or not, say it behind closed doors to levys face not like a naughty schoolboy telling on his superiors. I would have conte coaching the under 18s as punishment. He gets 15 million a year. I have got so much crap from work from colleagues supporting Chelsea for this. Saying we are a laughing stock. Conte basically said its the history of spurs. We got to a champions league final in 2019. Conte forgets that. I cannot stand him and I loved him before the weekend. He is a disgrace.

I said the summer of the season we came 2nd to Chelsea, which was 2016/17. Wanyama was signed June 2016. So yes, it was the same summer as Janssen, Sissoko and N'koudou.
I don't see it in Aurier or Janssen at all tbh, I think both of those were basically "well Poch, we can't get target A that you wanted, but we've phoned around and target C is available for a good price". GLC and TN'D for sure are his signings, but tbh I do think that given he only lasted 3-4 months past that summer we really didn't get an opportunity to see if and how Poch would have worked them both into his system. That goose is cooked now as far as TN'D is concerned, he's been thoroughly exposed as a lazy fuck, but I wouldn't be massively surprised if upon Poch's return he doesn't see about trying to get a tune out of GLC possibly in that AM role, if he doesn't have the budget to buy an attacking mid on top of refreshing our defence etc.
Llorente was a decent if uninspiring backup for Kane who only cost £12m, thing is that's exactly the sort of player you need as backup for a player like Kane, if you have a young hungry guy behind him with basically no chance of minutes when Kane's fit they're gonna get itchy feet, someone like Llorente who was already in his 30s and been there and done it, won stuff, he was happy to come and sit on the bench behind Kane and step in where needed. Foyth never played tbh so I don't think we can draw a decent conclusion on how he would've turned out if Poch stayed.

How they turned our is irrelevant.

The fact remains Poch played a proactive and decisive role in the recruitment of many (most?) of those players. I and numerous others have provides evidence to that effect on many occasions.

Shut up okay. We need maybe 3 more quality players. Son, kulu, bentacur, kane, richarlison, romero, holberg, dier, pedro porro are top quality. We just have a few holes to fill mainly creative midfielder and left wing back. Get them in and we will be up there. If we get mitoma to compete with son, get maddison in and get a top quality left back and a centre back as back up for dier we can challenge for the title.

They’re all cowards if it’s true. Could you imagine any one of them saying it to Conte’s face like a man?

No chance. None at all.

I'm not sure the roof is high enough in the team for that. Tyler players think they will be sidelined if they do that.

Still, I wish someone had the guts. Richarlison's rant was met with a place in the starting eleven. Do who knows. Maybe Conte appreciates straight talking.

Wow, didn’t see all this coming:

There hasn’t been a manager yet that had forced Levy to step outside his spending model, I don’t see why Conte will be any different. And to a degree, I don’t want him to be, as we don’t spend money particularly well and I don't believe in "big spending" when what you should be doing is "smart spending" when you are a sustainably run club, which is what all bar a couple of clubs are.

I’d much rather have gone for a head coach who is far more reliant on coaching than buying(although I accept Conte can "coach"). And instead upgraded Paratici and the recruitment and scouting apparatus.

The likeliest case scenario is Conte fucks off in 18 months after much acrimony, having “failed “ because “he wasn’t backed” and inherited a bunch of lazy losers, trying to install his ethos but ending up a with a deluxe brand of Moyes-esque football because he doesn’t get “his players”.

I would much rather we actually took a longer term view, decided on a top to bottom identity as a club that is achievable and fans can buy into, and recruit coaches and players accordingly. Not keep lurching from one big named totem to another, pretending we can compete with oligarchs and oil states, thinking putting Gordon Ramsey in charge of our diner will fool people into thinking we are a Michelin starred restaurant, when there is actually nothing wrong with great diner food when it's done well.

Find little wrong with the content of his outburst, man in the hot seat is entitled to fight his corner with whatever excuses are at his disposal....the omission of any personal culpability is though an area for some criticism.

It's not rubbish It's exactly what has happened - It's easier to come in to a club & team that have an established way of playing and are in a good place over several years and make a positive impact, as the foundations are in place, than it is to come in to a club and team that are in a bad place with none of that in place. Martinez done the same thing at Swansea following on from Rogers for example.

Typical flavour of the month supporter thinking

You're entitled to your opinion so I won't tell you to ''shut up''.

Dier is no way top quality, neither is Davies, nor Sess, nor Peresic, nor PEH. this season Son has been wank, Kulu runs hot and cold.

Skipp Sarr have a lot to offer, as does Boussuma, Richarlison still hasn;t scored a goal for us in the Prem.
