Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Quite right. An absolute disgrace.
I think this even more after the Nuno debacle, brought Wolves up and turd polished a load of Championship level players into a mainstay of a Premier League club.

Levy thought, I'll have some of that...and of course he was out of contract and likely not much wanted by other clubs, so wouldn't cost too much to hire...

...and of course he is known for cavalier, attacking entertaining football....much like Antonio.
🤭

I still suspect the Jose sacking's timing around the Cup final and SuperLeague self-pwn were financially driven. It all fucking stinks.

When it has been the same problem, year after, year after, after year, after year for last 20 years. Losing to clubs we should not be losing too, getting kicked out of League cups and European cups to clubs we should be winning against. And it happens every year.

Perhaps we needed someone to step up, and tell as it is and not give a fuck about proper ethics.

Conte knew his time was up, long before his press conference. Hopefully the next manager can "turn things around", but I think Tottenham need a shack up in the dressing room, which is what Conte was getting at.
I think a problem might be that our "Bonus" system is slanted towards Top 4?
Without picking the teams Levy and co make it clear Top 4 is priority?

Yeah. Ticked all Levy's boxes :roflmao:

My only problem with this is that I thought we had done / were doing this?

If we go back a few years, the 'bad apples' (whether that be disrespectful, disruptive, just not taking it seriously enough, or just not good enough) then and since included Danny Rose, Aurier, Sissoko, Winks, Deli, N'Dombele, Lo Celso, all of whom are now gone (or at least loaned out in some cases). Didn't most people on here agree that those players were the top priorities to get rid of in the last few years? We can't sell all the players in the entire squad in a 3/4 year period!

Maybe I'm naive, but I honestly thought most of the departures in recent years would ultimately have made us better as long as they were replaced with quality, and isn't the latter actually the issue?

Genuine question - putting ENIC, Levy and Conte aside for a moment and concentrating just on the players, do people think our problem is more about long-term bad influences still in the squad, or shorter / medium term (say last 3-4 years) recruitment of players coming into the squad (either not good enough or not right positions)? For me, it's been more the latter than the former... for example, I know all the old adages about what ifs etc, but you do have to wonder where we would be right now if N'Dombele had been the world class midfielder he had the potential to be, and we'd signed a quality CD at the same time... :(

Both. But it’s tough to pinpoint. Who exactly is the problem? I think it’s a mix of players with average mentality and average skill. It’s not that we have guys who don’t want to win. We have guys who don’t give that extra 10% to win. And they aren’t that extra 10% good enough to make up for it. And while we’ve gotten rid of some, we’ve brought in others. I think Dier has long been a problem. Lenglet this year I think is a problem. He’s here on a short term deal, not quite good enough, but then not a killer either. Son has been that way this year. I’ve defended PEH but idk maybe I’m wrong. I do think there’s a manager problem we’ve had with the last 3 regarding style. We give away easy goals at times and our defenders are so so, yet our solution is to play more defensive. I think the solution might be to control games from the front more. When we stopped pressing the same under Poch and Dembele stopped being superhuman Toby/Jan started looking pretty average too. I’ve always felt in the PL especially playing defensive football just won’t lead to consistent success. Sure you can get results at times and make tournament runs. But too many good skilled players and if you let them create chances and build confidence they will score goals. You have to suffocate them from the front and not let them build those spells.
