Tuchel 'was in advanced talks to become Spurs boss' - but fans have new target

Tuchel ‘was in advanced talks to become Tottenham manager before Bayern swooped’ – but Spurs fans have new target

TOTTENHAM were in "very close" talks with Thomas Tuchel over a deal to make him the club's new manager, according to reports.
Spurs are on the brink of sacking Antonio Conte after his rant about the club last week.

And according to Kicker reporter Georg Holzner, the former PSG and Chelsea boss was at the top of their list.

However, Spurs appear to have missed out on the German manager as he is now close to replacing Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich.

Holzner tweeted: "After Kicker - Information should be signed by Thomas Tuchel tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

"Tuchel was recently in very close talks with Tottenham, he could well imagine the project.

"But now Bavaria is acting. #fcbayern ❗❗❗️."

Nagelsmann is set to be sacked, with the Bundesliga side second in the league.

Bayern are still in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and domestic cup, however.

But it does not appear to be enough to save Nagelsmann's job as Borussia Dortmund lead their rivals by a point at the top of the table.

However, Spurs fans have not been disheartened by news the club are unlikely to appoint Tuchel as Conte's replacement as they now have their eyes on Nagelsmann to be the Italian's successor.

On fan tweeted: "Just do it".

A second wrote: "Give him £20m a year, I don't care just get him to North London ASAP."

A third commented: "Yes, yes and yes again."

Another said: "Yep. Could def get behind a Nagelsmann project."

Meanwhile, one added: "If I was Levy I’d be flying to Germany tonight and get the deal done."

Other names that have been touted as replacements for Conte include Vincent Kompany, Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner.

And given how much Poch seems to really want to manage Madrid. I would almost prefer that he comes back after he has had a shot at that. Or completely given up on that dream.

That way he won't try to leave the moment they flash their knickers at him.
Yeah, that's the dream scenario, a broken manager that has been forced to settle for us as as good as it's gonna get for him...

:pochcry:

It's Luis Enrique Martínez García Bill Madrid Bill Madrid and you bloody know it

ron swanson frown GIF
Hence "Enrique".

That was the gag you see.

Too subtle for this audience, obviously.

:contefacepalm:

Anyone got a link/s to good reading on Nagelsmann? I know his CV but haven't a clue as to what his general persona and man-management style.
I think that's going to be key to who we bring in. The last three (including Conte in this) have been divisive and just a little moody.

Bayern sacked a head-coach (who's just gotten them to the CL quartes by beating PSG) and hired a new one in 1day without any hesitation and no outsiders (not even the head coach himself) knew about it before the decision was announced.... while the whole footballing world knows that L & L had no intention of renewing Cont's contract and now want to sack him and yet it's dragging on and on. Last time L & L were dragging on they got Nuno
