Competition Winning a trophy - is it important?

For a long time the “Spurs need to win a trophy” seems to dominate here and in the wider media.

But now there is a chance we may enter the ECL again next season I see people disregarding it already.

Simple questions. Yes and no answers will do.

If we qualify for it is it important to you that we aim to win it?

Or would you prefer to finish 8th and not enter it at all?

I would prefer finish 8th.
ECL is like Audi Cup. It has history of 2 seasons. I don’t care.

For the conference league I would rather come 8th and not be in it, it’s a joke competition set up by UEFA. We won the Audi Cup and that isn’t much cop.

CL, EL, League Cup, FA Cup, Prem are proper trophies. Conference League would burn our squad next season. This club needs a full reset playing attacking football and avoiding too many injuries via fatigue. Unless the club genuinely will play the reserves and send the assistant manager for the games I fear it will effect how we perform in other competitions.

The only correct answer is: hell yeah!

Actually winning something creates a winning mentality and believe, this club has been way too comfortable with mediocrity and failure over the last decades.

Anyone who still believes that winning silverware isn't that much of a deal is very much part of the problem.

Yes, winning is a habit.

Jose didn't turn his nose up at it.

With the current playing squad we aren't going to even compete to win a champions league.

Let's just have a little taste of glory, it's not much to ask

As a supposed big club, our aim should be to win everything we enter.
I don't think, we can switch it on or off, what we choose to try and win, the club needs to develop a winning mentality, this is where it starts.

Of course winning a trophy (ANY trophy) is what football fans crave....
But if you can't have that, (and way more teams DON'T win trophies than do!) then at least put on a fucking show!

We haven't done either recently!

The follow up question should be:

Dull, trophy winning football...

Or play an attractive style, but another ultimately trophyless season?

I don't know why people ask this. How many teams win trophies playing dull football?

I know I'm in a minority here, maybe totally alone, but it's a trophy and I'd love to see us win it if we were in it. How a club with one single trophy in the entire century up to this point thinks its in a position to look down on one is beyond me.

"Fans of other clubs will laugh at us if we won it"

So fucking what, they laughed at us when we meekly bombed out of it too. They'll laugh at us if we don't finish high to even qualify for it too. I'm not wasting my time worrying about what other clubs think.

The fact that there are grown adults who actually care about that is so fucking pathetic.

I was going to write, “Hell, yeah!” too so…

What this guy said.

Finish as high as possible and try to win every competition we’re in next season, even if it’s the Euro Conference League.

Now squad rotation, that’s another matter altogether. If we need to play our reserves or youths because of fixture congestion and injuries, I can accept that even if it means we field a weakened team and lose. But I just struggle with the mindset that we can simply choose to not compete for any particular honours.
