No but I’d be up for him making the changes to get it there.A very good article about Slot and I think this is the crucial part about why his tactics work
............................
So what are those ideas?
“They’re very attacking, very aggressive, with a lot of pressing,” says Martijn Krabbendam, a journalist for Voetbal International who has covered Slot’s Feyenoord. “High intensity, a lot of energy, and they can only do that if they’re very fit.
“He always wants to play attacking football, he always wants possession, he always wants a good set-up from the goalkeeper to find free space and free players in the midfield. It’s no secret he is crazy about Guardiola — he’s an example.”
Before he became Breda coach, De Graaf spent a week with Slot at Feyenoord, observing how he works. “Every session is with high intensity,” he says. “Every workout, passing drill, or five vs five — everything is with high intention and everything is with an idea. Every player knows exactly what he wants from them. He’s good at making clear why he’s doing certain exercises.
He’s as honest as possible, so the players really like him.”
Slot believes his teams have to be intense because it essentially gives them two ways to win: if the quality of their play is lower than that of their opponents or they are having an off day, they can win by outrunning and outworking whoever they are playing.
There is also a recognition of, and mitigation against, the fitness concerns that come with such an intense style of not just playing, but training. He works closely with his data and fitness teams: when they tell him a player’s numbers are dropping or they are in the ‘red zone’, he will ease off.
Transitions are quick and passing is certain. Slot likes to work with younger players who are keen to learn. “If you have a young group, then, as a trainer, you can take the boys through videos in your desired playing style,” he said a few years ago.
For example, when Tyrell Malacia left last summer for Manchester United, he chose to replace him at left-back with the 20-year-old youth team product Quilindschy Hartman. When he needed a central midfielder, he took 22-year-old Mats Wieffer from Excelsior Rotterdam in the Dutch second tier. Both were subsequently called up to the Dutch national team. Most of the key players this season are 24 and under — there are only three outfielders in the squad who are older than 25.
.................
There is no way our current squad is built for someone like Slot.
Mind you... This time last season, we were all happy - and desperate - for Arteta to stay!!I think the fact that he'd prefer Slot to leave Feijenoord is quite telling of what he thinks
I'm somehow less worried about the managerial appointment than I am about our summer business. So far we haven't been linked with anyone that would be an out and out disaster.
tedesco23 did raise a very good point though, if Poch ends up going to Chelsea and gets an immediate tune out of them, while we go through some growing pains will create a potentially very toxic environment.
Trouble is, which manager of any worth will work under Levy, we have seen Jose & Conte fail
only a coach that is desperate for an EPL job will come here
I wish I could confidentially say that surely Levy and the board don't think anyone is getting a tune out of some of these players, but then again it should've been clear after 1, maybe 2 managers, yet we somehow made it to 4, and those players are still here.Yeah the recruitment this summer is so key. If Slot comes in he will need young, enthusiastic and energetic players. A lot will need to go. I think the fans have the stomach for that for sure, but based on history, I just don’t see Levy having it and obviously that’s a gigantic problem.
There’s no point at all bringing him in if levy expects him to get a tune out of the current squad. None at all.
Slot is there like an open goal, but you wouldn’t bet on us not turning it into an own goal.
I don't really disagree with you, but I'd say all recent managerial sackings were caused by fan unrest. It's a lose lose situation for the club really. Why does anyone give a shit if the fans can’t handle a project?
They aren’t the ones making the decisions. If the board pull the plug early because of fans then they’re the ones who can’t handle it.
I’m getting bored of people talking about the fans ability to be patient when the board are the ones who should be deciding this.
A lot of fans don’t know what they’re talking about so for a football board to set their footballing plan based on that is stupid.
Quite right , us fans might not know much about football , unfortunately Levy knows absolutely nothing about football, zero , sweet FA . The evidence is in , after 23 years you don’t make the monumental size cock ups he does if you have even the most basic knowledge of the game . He has occasionally been lucky , but his decisions over the last 5 years , when having 18-23 years experience show that any good decision was simply law of averages , ( a stopped clock being right twice a day scenario)Why does anyone give a shit if the fans can’t handle a project?

AKA "Keeping your powder dry"Chelski really don't have a clue do they getting a new manager in before the summer starts, you need to bed him in by signing him a week before the new season starts.

Most important is that our board is going to love buying the players he wants bc they will be young with resale value
I truly dont get the viewpoint our squad doesnt suit Slot so dont bring him in. Does that mean we're keeping this squad together? No one is getting a tune out of most of these players. Whoever comes in we need a massive clearout. If Slot favours young players at least he's on the same page as our transfer philosophy unlike Mourinho and Conte which is why they were never going to work.
Not sure if he's the right option, because Spurs is a complicated club and there will be a lot for him to deal with. On the other hand: he actually IS a very good coach. I'm sure he is fit for the PL but maybe needs a more stable employer. What’s your and the Dutch view of him, would he be a good option for us?

I agree with you 100 % but what clubs don’t have is actual football people running the clubs. They are businessmen who don’t know a ball from a banana. Why clubs bring in a Director of Football who’s never played baffles me. That position could and should be filled by an ex player preferably a Tottenham one. We have loads of ex players we trust that could and would do that job.Why does anyone give a shit if the fans can’t handle a project?

Playing safe is a much higher risk than the risk these other clubs took.I agree with you 100 % but what clubs don’t have is actual football people running the clubs. Bayern Munich fill their club with Bayern people and it works for them.
We are a club that has elite status but we are so far away from acting like one. Elite clubs take risks to be successful. We are the safest club in the league. Cash rich, will make money constantly through the stadium but miles away from being a Man Utd,Liverpool,City,Chelsea,Woolwich and now Newcastle are going to go past us.
