I wonder if there are concerns (beyond his relative inexperience beyond Dutch football) about Slot being a mercenary?I think it could very well be Slot. In an interview with Dutch journos he didn't commit to extending with Feyenoord, nor did he say anything after they won the title yesterday. And from the grapevine among football people in Holland it's almost a given that he will be managing in the PL next season.
This is all circumstantial, of course, but it points to him potentially being the manager of Spurs. And it could be a great appointment. He has a similar trajectory to JN, in that he took has been teams and made them title contenders, and he also did very well in European competitions. In Holland he's regarded much more highly than ETH.
"On December 5, 2020, he was sacked as head coach of AZ for not being focused on the team, having recently negotiated a deal with Feyenoord, despite earning 2.11 points per game in the Eredivisie, the highest of any AZ-coach in history.[2]"
Conversely, Xabi Alonso (also relatively inexperienced as a manager, but has played and managed in multiple leagues) turned down the Borussia M'Gladbach job after his Real Sociedad B was promoted to the 2nd division for the first time in 60 years.
I could see Slot getting the gig -- purely as a "hired him to fire him" (if) ENIC is selling and the prospective buyers have their own ideas about hierarchy, or if we're still waiting for the bigger fish to make their decisions first.
