Yeah you’re right about Roddy. Good point. I’d love a proper CM too but I’m happy to wait a year for that.

Défence is extremely shaky but Slot can coach a defence and this year has been SO bad it won’t be hard to get progress.

Kulu - not gonna die on that hill but I think he is better as a 10 than our wide.

Porro is terrible defensively I agree - that’s why I didn’t want him at all because even though he’s a good player we could all see that if we moved to a back 4 he’d be a liability. Maybe it’s Porro with Davies and Udogie with Royal for a bit of balance. Royal is solid as a rightback.

Got to see about Udogie. Could be great, could be terrible.
If our new spine is Raya - Romero - Bentancur - Kane, then I'm worried. Regardless of who's in charge, that is not the spine of a top 4-challenging team, simply as two players are (well) below par and a third is on the light side.

And I don't have strong enough words to describe my fears should Kane - our sole 'true' World Class talent (fuck your WC medal, Romero) - not be a part of that core group.

If only we had someone who could coach.
That rhetoric is getting a wee bit old, my friend. No offense.

Pep might be the greatest PL coach ever, but even he couldn't get that shitty squad to perform that much better. A coach, no matter how good or innovative, ain't a miracle worker.

You can't polish a turd and all that.

Porro, Romero, Udogie, Sarr, Kulu are all un-coachable "turds"????

GT-absolute-FO.

Well it may get old, but it's also a fact.

Walker got more abuse from the stands than any Spurs player I can remember and with good coaching he became a £50,000,000+ right back and arguably the best in the leagues history. Rose, the failed winger, who got so much abuse from Spurs fans he had to delete social media, with good coaching became arguably the best full back in the Premier League for 18 months.

It's funny that Porro was a City player (and didn't get on with Pep) but if you put him in this City team, I would imagine he'd thrive. Technically sound, great in attack and a team so dominant and perfect tactically, his defensive deficiencies would be seen as much as Walkers are.

The players we have right now are frightened. They have zero bravery on the ball. Why? I have no idea. It's strange but the team we saw at the back end of last season to the one we see 12 months on is night and day. We played decent football at the back end of last season and were defensively solid. That spell should be enough to know that a good coach can get something out of the better players in this squad.

Yes we need to move a fair few on, but there's players to work with here. Porro, Romero, Udogie, Bissouma, Bentancur, Kane, Kulusevski, Gil are all more than talented enough. I think with a better and more progressive coach, players like Skipp would probably flourish too. Add a sprinkling of technical ability and players who are brave on the ball and not scared to receive it ans move it on and next season should be a good start.

Slot as manager.

That is a manageable summer. Confident we’ll bring in a good keeper (like Raya). If we can do a new CB and RW then that team would be extremely attacking and play great football. Might even need a Dirk Kuyt at RWF to make that work.

Split minutes equally between Sarr and Hojbjerg.

Obviously we need more but that’s a good summer.
I would prefer if we never ever play Højbjerg again.

I think your bar for top 4 is too high.

Is Pope- Botman - Guimaraes - Wilson the spine of a top 4 side?

Is Ramsdale - Gabriel - Xhaka - Jesus?

That spine is comfortably good enough in a well-coached, motivated side. We’re aiming for top 4 not champions league final.

Exactly the most important thing to remember is any young semi fit keeper improves us. Getting an attacking MF of quality does that as well . Three committed talented footballers with a like minded coach we are at worse a top six team.

Also the top 4 won’t exist anymore right? Didn’t UEFA pass reforms that mean PL will get five teams most years?

When the top 4 trophy is expanded to the top 5 trophy!
