We simply don't have a team that belongs in that Stadium, I think it's one of the first things I recall Conte saying, that the facilities and the stadium are world class, now we need a team to match it.

That's not an exact quote but he said something like that.

We're just as bad now as we were when he first turned up.

Poch said that as well.

Need furniture etc.

Levy just doesn't see it that way. He sees Kane and Conte as 2 world-class players and that'll do.

So much talk in this thread about signing young players, that's fine but take months to a season for them to become regular starters. The team today is poor, Ange can't get blood from stone, we need at least 5 players including a goalie to come now, have pre season and start the first PL match in August. Failing that, another diabolical mid table finish.
Macch you put disagree on the above:
1. you don't agree the team is poor today? Remind you 3 managers Conte, Stellini and Mason failed to get a tune from them.
2. Do you think it's good plan to sign young players send them on loan and little chance making starting XI?
3. Do you think we need less than 5 players including goalie?
Or
4. you must be happy for another diabolical season?

What difference would it make? Would you join a side who's competed for league titles and made European finals under one of the decade's top coaches.. or chance your arm to join a squad with little identity or competitive spirit under a coach in his first high level job.
Probably none and if it’s a choice between pool or us then Liverpool win. Every player we get mentioned for will supposedly cost £40 million plus. They’ve just bought a brilliant World Cup winner for less. We signed Richarlison for £60 million and he struggles to stand up

I don't think he will, I saw an interview he did last week where he said he wouldn't and that he's always heard from critics that he needs to change every time he took a step up but has succeeded everywhere he's been sticking to his beliefs.

I'm not expecting a philosophy change, but at the same time he isn't super stubborn like a Bielsa either.

Notice I used the word "evolve" rather than expecting wholesale change.

However way you wanna slice it; he faces a new and sterner challenge than he's ever faced before entering what's considered the best/toughest league in the world. I'd assume evolution is inevitable if he is to succeed.

See..... Howe/Bmuff, Bielsa/Leeds

So if he can't play the 4-3-3 he did at Celtic, I wouldn't be surprised if he had us play in a double pivot as opposed to the lone 6 single pivot he had at Celtic given the players we have.

That in itself would seemingly, forcibly bring out a significant tactical/philosophical evolution (if not out outright change.... A pressing 4231 is far off what the armchair tactics mob have been describing

With that in mind though (and something I'm finding more and more curious)...... We already have an abundance of #8s and yet I'm starting to get the impression that despite many people talking about Ange's 8 / 6 / 8 MF system; in practical terms they're talking more so about a 10 / 6 / 10 in terms of skill-set it demands.... And as I've already intimated that's gonna require you to have the oppo outgunned in terms of ability most weeks (a la Man City and Pep's Barca).

players nearly always sell for prices lower than are quoted in the media. Raya likely will be 30-32m ..Maddison a shade above 40m.

We'll be linked with a tonne of players in the coming weeks, likely Lee Kang-in, Scott types around 15-20m and a rake of cb's and attacking midfielders in similar price bracket sub 30m. Medina, Tobido, Lukeba. And tbh, I think that's the market we should be shopping in, instead of overpaying for the players that are "proven" but not good enough to be wanted by the top clubs.

Agreed. Plus all reports are that Ange likes working with younger players he can mold (and he wants guys who can run and press all day long).

I’m incredibly skeptical of the reporting that he wants Maddison. I thought he would fit great in Mason’s 4-2-3-1, but he doesn’t feel like a fit for the way Ange wants to play and developed the squad.

Lazio will need ‘at least €30m’ to sign Bryan Gil from Tottenham this summer, with Spurs refusing to ‘start negotiations’ for anything beneath that price.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say it will prove hard for the Italian side to ‘obtain discounts’ from Tottenham this summer.

Gil has spent the second half of this season on loan at former club Sevilla, establishing himself in the first team as they went on to win the Europa League.

He’s set to return to Tottenham once that loan deal officially ends as it does not include a purchase clause but whether he has a long-term future at the club remains to be seen.

He’s barely featured for the club since his arrival from Sevilla July 2021 and has regularly spoken of a need to depart and get regular playing time elsewhere.

A departure seems likely this summer and Lazio have been identified as a possible destination, with it claimed that manager Maurizio Sarri believes he can turn the Spaniard into a star.

Corriere now state that any deal would be ‘complicated’, at least from an economic point of view, as Tottenham are demanding ‘at least €30m’ for the player if he departs.
They had Gil tied down to a contract until 2026 which means that there is no need for them to sell on the cheap and there is little to no opportunity for Lazio to ‘obtain discounts’.

Thus, a move to the Italian side looks unlikely at this moment in time, although things can always change in the whirlpool that is the transfer window.

No rush to sell Gil. Doesn't need to be part of any clear out.

If they pay the 30m then fine. If not, off you fuck

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has reportedly decided that he wants to join Manchester United.

The Englishman, branded as an ‘underrated’ player by Jose Enrique, will enter the final year of his contract next month, and his future is still up in the air. There is a good chance he could leave Spurs this summer, and he has been linked with a few huge clubs.

Manchester United are one of them, and Football Transfers have shared some good news for the Red Devils.

Tottenham star Harry Kane wants to join Manchester United

There are very few clubs in the world who can afford to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, even when he has just a year left on his contract.

Daniel Levy will certainly demand a fortune for him, and as things stand, Real Madrid and Manchester United are probably the only two sides who can match the Spurs chairman’s demands.

The report claims that “Erik ten Hag is eager to sign Kane and Manchester United can afford the £100 million” that would be required to make Levy even consider selling him.

A bigger positive for Manchester United fans is that Kane is apparently ready to leave Spurs and join Ten Hag’s side.

He ‘wants’ the move to Old Trafford and the report claims that if Levy blocks it this summer, he’s willing to wait a year and join the Red Devils for free in 2024.

Tottenham will then get nothing for him.

TBR View:

Daniel Levy has a very difficult decision to make at Tottenham.

No chairman ever wants to lose his best player, but Kane has given everything to Spurs over the years and with just a year left on his contract and his transfer value still so high, it makes sense to cash in on him.

However, signing a replacement for Kane when Tottenham have no European football to offer is a very difficult task, and that could convince Levy to just hold on to his star man.

It will be interesting to see what will happen in the coming weeks.

Can you find a shitter sourced article to share? Cheers.

He also said our fans lacked patience and then ran in a tantrum when he started to struggle against teams like Southampton, Wolves & Sheff United.

£75-90 mil combined on Raya and Maddison. “Prem proven” tax is a joke. That’s how we got suckered into the Richarlison deal.

You could get Alex Scott, Kang-In Lee and Yehvann Diouf for under £60 mil. All younger and with higher ceilings.

Richarlison for that price was always ridiculous

Maddison and raya are both actually very good if we could get the pair for around 65 -70 million I think that would be great business personally.

Wondering if Ange might want to look at him as a 6. Has the ability to cut through pressure so easily.

Either that or one of the 8's. Looks like we will need 4 of those as Ange likes to change his midfield at the 70min mark to keep things fresh.

Bissouma is another interesting one for this, is he 6 or 8 now?

This might be the thing. If we are going to heavily rotate 8’s, and need 4 of them, then he could be useful.
