Yeah woe is us.

Marooned on the largest island in the world. Natural resources in abundance, great weather, great economy. All on our own with no pesky neighbours to annoy us.

Meanwhile Mother England... Small rain soaked island in the North Sea and sharing borders with the bloody Welsh and Scots

Woe is us. World's happiest convicts.

Told ya...

Works every time.

🤣

Then why should we bother chasing Maddison or Raya?
If they've been identified as the best available for the way Postecoglou wants to play then that's why. If we identify a player in a lesser league with all of or, dare I say it, more of the attributes to do the same job as well or better, but he's a fraction of the price, why on God's Earth wouldn't you get him instead?

Hands up anyone on here that wants to use that term having read the link I've posted?

He already has.

Are you?
I've gone back and had a look. scarletjim scarletjim is spot on. The guy doesn't seem to have been using the word 'parasite' in a Jewish context - as he has explained clearly. And now that you've got under his skin, he may well just dig his heels in.

Part of me defends his right to use the term 'parasite', but another part of me is sensitive to your interpretation, now that you've highlighted it (I wouldn't have made any Jewish connection, but for you).
No individual in the world should be immune from being referred to as a parasite, just because of who they are, but I can see there may well be special sensitivities surrounding that word in the Jewish community.

On reflection, if I'm convinced someone is a parasite I'll call them that, whether they're Jewish or not.

Can you think of an acceptable alternative that allows him to get his message across? Bloodsucker? Fucking vampire? Money-grabbing ne'er-do-well? (I actually don't think Daniel Levy is any of these things, by the way. I also don't think he's a parasite! I think he's a very successful businessman in every respect except one very important area - and we all know what that is.)

Scarletjim is also right about the quality of your contributions - so thanks for them.

Ok so we should focus on cheaper players from 'the rest of the world' rather than Europe or South America, or maybe from Bristol Rovers, like Gary Mabbutt.

I'm all for it.
Not at all. We should be focussing on the players that are best suited to the style of play Ange wants to play. Where they come from us irrelevant, it's their ability within our squad and the potential to improve both us and themselves that should be the main focus. Whether that player costs £100M or £500k shouldn't make a difference.

Let's be honest here, we've never shopped in the ultra elite bracket because the likes of Chelsea overinflated it to the point where any club that wasn't financially doped simply couldn't afford to. When we've dipped our toes in, they've been bitten off. That's down to our own inability to identify the right target, but it demonstrates that no one not oil doped can afford to take that risk consistently. Liverpool tried to do it for years, before FSG finally got it right. Even then, Liverpool are now seeing that weighing out £100M, for a striker that blows hot sometimes and cold most of the time, can do more damage than good. They're having to rein in their spending because they can't afford any more costly mistakes.

Barca is an even better example. They've mortgaged off their future in a mad scramble to stay at the top. Even they have been forced to rein their spending in because of far too many costly mistakes that almost broke them.

Having said all of that, we are still able shop at the elite level as long as we're buying the right player. If the club have identified this manager as the man who'll transform our club, then they absolutely MUST back him to get the players he identifies as the best fit. They have to trust his judgement on a player much as we the fans also must. He's consistently proven that he can identify, with a very high degree of success, players that both suit his style and improve the team they join, so the pricetag or status of the player should be irrelevant, much as the league they may come from should be irrelevant.

But surely there's similar players else where who don't have PL experience, isn't that what you were arguing?

The problem is in my view if Ange wants players to suit him, and so gets rid of the one's that he doesn't want, we're either going to have to spend hundreds of millions on many the likes of Maddison and Raya, or as you say instead go looking in the 'lesser' leagues for players that he likes. With no big league experience.

Haha. Just seen his first video message on the App and, well, not quite as polished as the videos we've all seen.

"So, err, yeah, we're going to play some football, err and I'm excited etc."

Only way is up I guess.

That is exactly how it goes for managers trying to get the players they want at Spurs.

Conte asking for Bastoni or Gvardiol ... Levy and Paratici telling him Lenglet on loan is basically the same thing.
Conte can fuck off. Bastoni was never leaving and the only teams that can afford Gvardiol are City and United. I'm surprised he didn't ask for Mbappe while he was at it.

I'm expecting Ange to ask for attainable targets.

Not really, though that does form part of what I'm arguing.

What I'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter where they come from, so long as they are the best available choice for the position they'll take. Whether we the fans agree with that choice is irrelevant, we have to trust that the manager has chosen the best possible option for what HE wants to do.

If he chooses a £10M option as his first choice, but a cadre of fans are shouting "he should have gone for X because he costs 10X as much so he must be better," which one do you think is most likely to be right? The man who consistently buys well, or the blowhards who think you only show ambition if you put yourself in the Red?

It's pretty obvious what my choice would be😎

That's the nature of a reset my friend.

Specialists in failure.
You're making it sound like this is Spurs specific, just to further your agenda. The reality is that every manager that goes to a new club gets saddled with players, because not every single player he inherits will suit him/his tactics.

Confirms he's chosen big Post because he has accepted he'll be working with a very tight budget.

This is something I've long suspected but best of luck to Postecoglou for backing himself to do the job with mostly what he's got.

It's there in black and white you cunt. Own the words you use. No one typed them but you!

Are you going to continue with that language on here? Looks from your response that's exactly what you intend to do. It's quite incredible that you would do that having read the link! Your choice of words is disgusting. It's clear what you are now.
Loads of people call him that, it has nothing to do with what you are tagging it too...
So if your gonna talk to me like that, then fuck you too
