Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Will Ange get the chance to asses him? I've seen the reports of all the players that ENIC want to clear out, and he has to sell to help with the rebuild,
I'd be very disappointed in Ange if he's seriously taking any advice on footballing matters from the brain trust of Levy, Lewis and Cullen...

If he comes in and wants to keep GLC, Ndombele, Reggie then I don;t give a shit what Levy thinks, or anyone on here, he keeps them!

At the same time though, if he wants to keep Sessegnon then he can go to Hell...

:ange-confused:

That is exactly how it goes for managers trying to get the players they want at Spurs.

Conte asking for Bastoni or Gvardiol ... Levy and Paratici telling him Lenglet on loan is basically the same thing.
So unless we bring in world class centrebacks, the only option we have is to concede more goals than we’ve conceded at any point since we finished rock bottom and got relegated back in the 70s?

But was it a shoestring budget compared to say Heart's budget?

Current transfer record: €-870k
We don't actually operate on a shoestring budget though so it's not relevant. Our revenues are gargantuan and in theory should allow us to be competitive at the top of the table.

Our problem is the way we spend, badly and without strategy. The fees and wages we've wasted on Lo Celso, Ndombele, Reguilon all for no return could have been properly utilised on one or two world class players. We've thrown money at Gil, Spence, Bissouma and Richarison with no reward (although I'll say "yet" here because I'm not writing these off - especially Bissouma). The difference between us and City is they can afford to spend big and make mistakes because they can afford to write these players off and just replace them. We can't. If we spent what we had much more wisely we'd still be miles ahead of Woolwich.

Hearts could spend every penny they ever had and still not be able to muster a quarter of the squad either Celtic or Rangers have.

Our situations are just not comparable. If Ange can identify the right players and spend what he has properly (or in tandem with a DoF), and if Levy can seriously step back from football matters and let the football guys use the budget as they see fit, then we can compete. The problem I have is I'm not sure he will just hand over a budget and step back he seems to like poking his nose in.

It could be argued that City can outspend us as easily as Celtic can outspend Hearts.

But my point is if Ange were the manager of a low budget SPL team say Hearts would he have won the treble?

Levy's managers have been polishing turds since 2001.

Jol got saddled with;

Fulop, Defendi, Limberski, Hallfredsson, El Hamdaoui, Cerny, Rasiak, Dervitte, Rocha, Alnwick, Prince Boateng & Gunter.

Ramos / Redknapp got saddled with;

No, but I don't think Pep Guardiola, Alex Ferguson, Antonio Conte or Jose Mourinho could win the treble with Hearts either so I'm not sure what the point is?

TLDR...Levy's a tight cunt, we get it...dunno why you wasted time looking all that up...

The point is he had a better budget than anyone else, hence it would be like him coming here to manage City.
But unlike comparing us to Hearts though, we do have the ability to make big money signings. Unlike City all ours have to be a success whereas they can just write off a bigger % of failures. But City alsohave much better scouting and recruitment to begin with. Brings me back to the fact we spend, but spend atrociously and then have less ability to bounce back from that.

An Aussie here. Ange is an amazing manager and it's really exciting to see him get an opportunity in the EPL at a club as big as Tottenham. There's heaps of media on this in Australia atm.

This article is from a former player at Brisbane Roar about what to expect in the first few weeks of Ange's tenure. It's an interesting perspective and one I thought you may appreciate: Optus Sport

We're simply not in the same ball park as City when it comes to spending - like Hearts aren't with Celtic.
Yes I know our league is much wealthier in comparison.

A fairly selective list

Supported the club, longer than I've been alive...

Of course you have, although all I ever see from you is a slating of the club. I see no support whatsoever.

You, like a great many others on here, let your hatred of Levy consume you. So much so, you no longer support Spurs - you just hate Levy/ENIC.
I do support the team still, but I cannot lie that I do hate levy/enic for what they have turned this club into.
