Just yesterday, we covered the Italian media bringing an update on Tottenham Hotspurs’ pursuit of AS Roma defender Roger Ibañez.

It was claimed by Giallorossi.net that Spurs are interested in the Brazilian, but are not willing to spend over €20m on his signing, despite the initial request of €40m for his sale.

Now as Gazzetta Dello Sport today features a story on Ibañez’s future, they bring some news which sounds very positive for Tottenham.

The outlet makes it clear that the 24-year-old ‘is leaving’ Roma this summer. And the amount the Serie A side intend to make with his sale this month is actually €30m.
It’s pointed out how ‘popular’ Ibañez is in the Premier League, with Tottenham named as one of the clubs who are interested in him.
Now the most interesting update is that, according to Gazzetta, the centre-back ‘has his suitcase ready’ to leave the Giallorossi, and the club actually need the concrete offers to be made ‘quickly’ so they can be fine with Financial Fair Play. The transaction would need to be done before the end of June.

That undoubtedly makes it an advantageous situation for Tottenham, who can use the deadline to force Roma to give a bigger discount on the transfer.

This reads as Roma feel confident they have NDicka for free and now want to create a market to sell a CB as they have a replacement ready and could use the cash.

either way, is Ibanez any good?

State of the apostrophe in that first sentence.

He's good. Not world class but definitely good. Right sided CB (that has played a bit on the left) and a aggressive presser like Romero. But doesn't seem as card crazy as Romero. Only 9 yellows in Serie A this season and was sent off once.
Been at Atalanta and now Roma.

Maybe not the calm presence next to Romero that we have been looking for. But he could be a decent alternative to Romero.

I cant believe we are in for him or any Man U player. We wont sit down with them to talk about any player because of not wanting to sell them Kane.

The source of the rumour is incredibly shit.

Probably united need to sell and get players off the wage bill before they can buy so trying to create a market for the player and also keeping their situation quiet.

He did score 4 goals and get 2 assists since February, with sporadic appearances and bench roles, so is improving finally.

He's good on the ball and not slow either, so somewhat an exciting player one would say. Unfortunately he's got that Aurier thing about him. Coughs up stupid penalties where you can’t fathom why he'd even challenge in a non-dangerous situation, and sometimes gets too comfortable on the ball and gets dispossessed. Overall a good player but with flaws to his game. If it's between him, Lenglet and Maguire then Ibanez would be the obvious choice

Would make sense if he's good on the ball, at least, coz CB's in Ange's system need that.

So Ibanez is mistake riddled? do we just intentionally go for these type of players?
I would not mistake riddled. he's calmer than both Romero and Aurier. But he does have a few in him.

And it also comes with the position. Mistakes by defenders are always going to stick out. You can't avoid recruiting a defender and not expecting a few mistakes. Eder Militao has grown into one of the best CBs in the world right now at Madrid but was also called mistake riddled.

Would be shocked if the club is signing a specialist RCB this summer when we need x2 that can play LCB.

Would be pretty typical Spurs though.

Sounds fucking wonderful.

"Got that Aurier thing about him"

Fucking great.

This is a guy we should go get. A real defender who is aggressive and actually takes pride in his defending but is capable with the ball too. £25 million is a steal and at 24 he’s the perfect age.

Was gonna start a new thread, but there's enough of those already, so decided to stick this question in here;

Who, out of our LOAN players do people think will be kept, loaned back out, or sold...?

NDOMBELE
LO CELSO
REGUILÓN
WINKS
GIL
SPENCE
UDOGIE
RODON
SCARLETT
WHITE

...who else...? zat it?? PARROTT?? (is he still on loan?)

OK. what do you think?

Personally, I think Udogie is a given to come back... seeing as the club seem to think he has WAY too much promise and potential to let go just yet...

I reckon Ange will also keep hold of Ndombele, Spence & Gil, (partly out of curiosity, to see what all the original fuss was about) and Scarlett, Parrott & White just 'cos they are still relatively young, and have potential.
If not recall them, then maybe send them back out on loan for a further season...

Lo Celso, Winks and probably Rodon are as good as gone... (Unless Ange sees summit in Rodon that no one else did?)

What say you...?

The only one I'm not sure of is Reguilón, as I reckon Ange could still do something with him... could be a similar player to Porro (ie: an attack minded full-back) ... but we already have Porro, Emerson, Udogie and possibly Spence... so I'm not sure where that leaves Reggie!

Agree with this. Good player, wouldn't complain if we signed him, as comfortable on the left as on the right. Would be a great signing if it was a compliment to an outright first choice lcb.. I don't see us spending 25m plus on two centre backs.
