Tottenham Hotspur have missed out on highly rated Jamaldeen Jimoh after being reluctant to match Aston Villa’s lucrative package for the West Brom academy starlet, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Spurs are keen to add talents to their academy set-up as they look to ensure a good flow of players through to the first team.

They zeroed in on West Brom’s midfielder Jimoh and were keen to take him to north London, but have been beaten to the punch.

It is claimed that the lucrative package Aston Villa put in front of Jimoh was one which Tottenham were unwilling to match.

Aston Villa are said to be paying £1m to get the deal done and West Brom will also receive ten per cent of any future transfer for the player.

Jimoh, 16, has so far earned seven caps for England Under-17s while bagging one goal and providing two assists, being considered a hot prospect for the future.

All eyes will be on whether Tottenham regret not going the extra mile to land Jimoh, who will continue his development at Aston Villa.

Spurs appointed Ange Postecoglou as their permanent manager recently and it remains to be seen how the proven boss wields his wand with respect to dealing with the academy starlets and giving them breakthroughs.
Can't even compete with villa now 😂

My biggest thing with him is his mettle, he's technically very good and all that but he supposedly Leicesters main man and they dropped him for games in a relegation battle.

Unless that was supposed to be Dean Smith's master plan to unleash him once opposition tired

Overall he is a good player though, has proven it in prem and if he went Newcastle and does well we will cry about it and bash Enic with it
I'm with you re his mettle. I dunno the lad personally, but he sounds a right diva to me. But then again I thought as much of Grealish and Pep's managed to keep him focused and fighting for the team.

If he went to Newcastle and performed, so be it. Too big a risk for that money.

Saw some suggesting we won't pay 55m for Maddison and will move onto cheaper targets.

Yes; ergo my post.

Tbh, most of us would probably agree with Baldy for that decision.

It's funny how enthusiasm for JM has waned in recent weeks...... The lasting collective boner for him seems to be softening. I guess one could ponder that it's due to the prospect of Ange-ball, but IMO he wasn't much suited to Conte-ball or (potentially) Nagelsmann either.

A scent of so-called match-of-the-day-scouting IMO; where people become transfixed by what's right in front of their nose.

Just to wind people up, particularly after last couple of pages of comments on moving on from Maddison :

Will be interesting to see whether Maddison comes. IMO we might do better with Harvey Barnes ..... but prices of either might mean we move on to others

In terms of strikers at a premium, agree very few and far between. A year ago with conte we may have had a chance at a lautaro martinez, Raphael leao or osimhen before we fell to pieces.

- Martinez is a player we tried to buy (some hasty newspaper reports even claimed that the deal had been completed)

- Leao is a WF so of little immediate concern.

- Next step for Osimhen is Man U, PSG, BM or possibly RM (if they're still struggling to get Mbappe).... As someone who's just won the league and had a strong CL run I doubt Conte's top 4 Spurs would have felt more than a side-step to him.

It's an extremelly narrow market for STs who are either great or poised to hit greatness.

As the second greatest spurs striker ever, and greatest spurs striker of modern era he deserves to go somewhere that is designed to win or at minimum surrounds him with players of a reasonable calibre.

The only thing worth him leaving for is trophies..... I suspect even he'd happily say that much.

Look at the mutual joy and respect he's shared within his partnership with Son over recent seasons; and before that the camaraderie with Eriksen & Dele..... I'm sure he'll have liked what he saw of Season 1 Kulu too. "Players of a reasonable callibre" is a box already ticked.

If not UK then a Real Madrid, Inter Milan, PSG, anywhere with serious title and cup ambitions.

Spent years carrying this club to new heights. He could have earnt and won more elsewhere. Showed loyalty by signing long term contract which gave us his prime years.

It's not a slight on Kane or a lack of gratitude; simply that I have no concern for what success he can achieve outside of this club.

We were never making Champions league. thanks to ENIC. And you are still labouring under the illusion that a win against City made a blind bit of difference...bless

This is where we lost your precious top 4 trophy.

1-3 Brentford
1-2 Villa
0-2 Villa
1-4 Leicester
0-1 Wolves
2-3 Bournemouth
1-2 Newcastle
1-6 Newcastle
3-3 Southhampton
1-1 Everton

SIXTY THREE goals conceded!!
Isn’t a lot of that down to cunte mainly and then fraudster telling levy to keep the other fraidster on instead brining a proper manager fir remainder of season? With even a half decent coach we should easily have made top 6 and at a push top 4 from where were. How many points were dippers behind us and then how many did they head us by.

It'll pop right back up when he's tearing it up for Newcastle getting 12+ goals 10+ assists.

This with bells on. They pulled baldies pants down good and proper. Apologies to anyone having their evening meal.

We need to stop trying to buy established players that have been passed over by all our rivals. It’s very obvious that 99% of established players that are choosing from city, Liverpool, Woolwich, spurs, and so on, will not choose spurs. If they do, I’d question their motivation because we are a shitshow.

We need to target a James Maddison but get him back when he was at Norwich, not once he’s already used up a lot of his prime years and is triple the price.

Such a waste when you have 50m+ signings that have limited upside like richarlison.

And then people would be up in arms because we only sign cheap lower league punts instead of PL proven quality.

Reality is you need a healthy mix of all types of transfers.

He is 26 and a midfielder. His prime years arguably haven't even begun, what?

Alex Scott or Kangin Lee

Nice left foot, athleticism leaves him down. Poor lad should have been loaned out 22/23 and first half of last season.. we've treated him poorly
Yes cunte kept him saying he’d get minutes. He got nothing then went on loan in jan. Instead buying cheap pints from SPL or wherever I’d much prefer to give the likes of Alfie , harvey, mundal, etc opportunities. Nothing to lose other than selling them if no good. We just don’t give any youth a chance it seems especially under the Dino. Managers. Is Ange gonna be brave enough to play some of our youth?

Would love Eze from Palace as I think he's well on the way to becoming a genuinely top player. But would obviously cost a fortune. Even more so once he has an England cap to his name which he will get in the upcoming England games. But he has absolutely everything you would want in a wide player.
