I feel some are only saying that they don’t want Maddison because they think Newcastle will get him. Nobody will pay £55 million for him but he’d be a great signing for us and if we can get him for £40 million then great. If not then look elsewhere. People saying he’s 26 and had his best years is ludicrous. He’s proven at this level and the way he plays there’s at least another 6 or 7 years minimum left in him at this level.
