This wasn’t the original point, which was:

Woolwich are so sure and committed to Rice being the player that gets them over the line that they will drop 100m on him.

No matter how sure we are and no matter how close it got us to a real team around Kane, we just wouldn’t be that committed.

And when Kane goes and we have zero world class players, maybe we should revisit how we feel then…
He will make a big difference to them, but they did struggle when Jesus got injured, and I still think they are short at CB.

Did they? I'm sure they coped just fine and were leading the league the whole time, actually they started dropping points when he came back iirc. The one injury that cost them the league was Saliba!!
I think they overachieved on that basis, as they did look short up top, but were playing well enough to cover it.
But yes Saliba was an issue, hence as I say cover at CB.
They will certainly give it a go regardless, might be a mind the gap moment.

Hmmmmm..... Again, depends what the motive is.... .PSG spent 400m on him & Neymar in order to win the C L... No trophy yet and they regularly under-perform in it.

Since he's been there:

They didn't sign him just to win the champions league. They signed him because who wouldn't want to sign the best player in the world when you have limitless funds. Those limitless funds mean that the amount paid for him is of little consequence (and that's ignoring the fact that they will likely make a significant portion of that back if they wish to sell, but they may feel that one more year is worth more than the money, much like we currently feel with our star striker).

The parallel doesn't end there, like Kane is to us he's also their greatest ever goal scorer, and he managed that in just 6 seasons. He has made highlight reel after highlight reel in otherwise comparatively disappointing seasons and domestic trophy processions . What ever way you cut it, factoring in all variables he has been a success, and I will die on that hill (ignoring more pointed conversations over the inflated football fees in a world full of shit etc).

Teams focused on the strength of a team rather than the star status and marketability of its players.

Not to say any of Messi, Neymar or especially Mbappe couldn't be parts of CL-winning quality teams, but not all three of them together.

Limitless funds raise your floor a ton, but actually making a great team requires quality squad building and coaching regardless of financial advantages.

He's not a dud obviously, but I'd be more inclined to agree with you if:

1. If he wasn't bought alongside Neymar in the same window.
2. They haven't repeatedly sacked managers even though they won the league.

Bleh. Hard worker, kinda technically deficient at lots of things, definitely a good eye for goal, would make a great Everton player, don't think he's a top-club level starter though. (Top club.. you know what I mean..)

Rated him highly at palace

Less so (considerably) at chelscum

In a 3. He’d definitely be a busy fucker. Doesn’t stop running. Maybe Ange type of player

but bringing Neymar into the equation even strengthens my resolve - and someone mentioned Messi above - the effort and contribution of those three players are not the same. One is 35, the other turns up/shows up when he wants, then there's Mbappe.

Neymar has essentially been allowed to do whatever Neymar wants to do, and when that has been challenged he's done it anyway. The lack of professionalism shown by such a talent (and you could argue this of Messi too, on occasion) has been staggering given his fee. Mbappe has prospered in spite of this. Neymar's played just over 50% of the available games since they signed him, and Mbappe has scored nearly twice as many goals as him despite them being at the club for the same length of time.

Honestly, Neymar (and Messi) are not the sticks to beat Mbappe with. PSG's problems may lie with the former but far from the latter
