I don't think that Raya is worth 40 mil on just one year left on his contract. So yeah, I can understand walking away from the deal.

Not when we end up downgrading and getting someone less capable. Guy is HG and by some metrics was the best keeper in the prem last season, he is a very good keeper we are missing on. All top teams have top goalkeepers.

Makes no sense to me , that logic implies we might pay 40 million if he had 3 years left .
So what is better paying 40 million for the player we want or 30 million for one not as good . The one year bit only works if the selling club really want to sell , should we take a crap bid for Kane because he only has a year left , most certainly not . Brentford are doing the right thing for their club and I don’t blame them .
If Raya is the guy we should get the deal done, not haggle over a scenario where if we were in their shoes ( Kane) we would say jog on .
However Levy always believes he can buy low and sell high , evidence indicates he can’t . Still only 23 years though so hope remains

definitely a case of this.
The player wants to come, Brentford are already signing/have signed his replacement. We should not and will not pay through the nose for a player with one year left on his contract. Fully expect to get him later at the suggested £20M figure
This. BF also dont want to end up with an unhappy player who they will have to pay for a year to sit on the bench, if they intend on putting his replacement in immediately.
