If he is shit then why are Inter, Juventus and Milan keeping him as the first name on their list if they have to change keepers?

I think the most interesting was reading from Italians of other Serie A clubs.

Most saying he was probably the second best performing goalkeeper over the course of the season last year behind the Lazio goalkeeper and based on overall quality, the third best behind Onana and Maignan.

It's pointless judging him based on his Serie A and Empoli stint though. They play a completely different way to us and in a completely different league. If he signs, we judge what he can do in a Spurs shirt and gets our full backing.

Doing a bit of a deep-dive on Vicario here and it's not making me feel better. Hopefully this is to accelerate things with Brentford and get them down to low 30's. Would much rather overpay a bit for a hg keeper, who speaks English and Spanish (common language of many of our defenders) than take a chance on this guy who doesn't jump off the page. Raya is legitimately quite good.
Our defenders don´t speak ANY language, they don´t even know how to defend FFS!

Yeah, the problem with the Saudi Chelsea conspiracy theory is that Chelsea, who they may have some small indirect stake in, is a direct competitor to Newcastle, their crowning jewel project.

It's just annoying luck, unfortunately.

The Saudis would happily overpay us for Sonny, but that doesn't favor him or us in the same way.

By the same token; if the actual power-play is to effectively eat football itself (and hijack any potential European Super League into being a global project) then both clubs are just tools; a means to an end.

Correct me I'm wrong but you can own multiple clubs in the same league out there, so there's no particular concern about the sporting integrity and conflict of interest between clubs.... It's the entertainment brands - Man U, Barca etc. - they're interested in; not the sport itself.

It’s to measure up how good of a shot stopper you are vs how much you (presumably) take part in build up. He’s very close to Flekken who Brentford have signed btw.
Problem with data is that football isn’t a one person sport. It’s all good that some keepers have better passing stats than others but that might mean their team mates are better at getting into passable positions. Shots saved? Well you’re facing more shots if you play for a shit team. Ability to win crosses? Well if you play for a team with a master CB who heads everything away then you in turn don’t get to claim as many crosses.

Data deffo has its place - but so much of it can be scrutinised. Brighton and Brentford are in the fortunate place that they trust what the board do and fans don’t throw a hissy at signing someone they haven’t heard of

4 clubs spending the money are all owned by the sovereign wealth fund

But the thing Daniel Levy always gets wrong is that the purpose is not to win the "Strategically Intelligent Signing of the Summer Award", the purpose is to put a top quality keeper between the sticks for the long term who the club can rely on.

You have to have good scouting and trust it. If Raya continues to excel in the Prem and Vicario is a bust, Levy will deserve the pelters he gets and is LOSING money here rather than saving it.
What if Vicario is the second coming of Alison?

Funny how some people always phrase it in the negative.
