I'm fine with this keeper signing as i was with Postecoglou. We appear to be trying something different which was much needed. But to be fair trust has to be earnt by the powers that be after the last 7 years of appalling decisions and signings. Suspicions will remain that we're just cheaping out on deals because we've done a lot of that over the years. Are we serious about this data approach and really buying into it or just cospalying Brighton and Brentford as it’s trendy. Only time will tell on that but i quite like not doing the obvious. It used to serve us pretty well 10/15 years ago.
Yeah I’m the same. The guy is probably great - as are an abundance of options which fans seem to rule out based on stats or how expensive they are (perceived quality). All I know is that our most expensive signings in recent history have proved to be dogsbit, and don’t get why any fan would turn up their nose at a lesser known player who happens to be cheaper but clearly very good

By the same token; if the actual power-play is to effectively eat football itself (and hijack any potential European Super League into being a global project) then both clubs are just tools; a means to an end.

Correct me I'm wrong but you can own multiple clubs in the same league out there, so there's no particular concern about the sporting integrity and conflict of interest between clubs.... It's the entertainment brands - Man U, Barca etc. - they're interested in; not the sport itself.
Well and the thing is, Chelsea are just an easy target in terms of the Saudis being able to buy credible big-name players from a club eager to sell them.

The purported fee for Koulibaly, Ziyech and Mendy is 43M combined. That's a gigantic loss on what they paid for those guys.

It balances the books for the moment but that doesn't save them over the longer term in a world where the Mudryk's and Enzo's don't come good.

Then we need to pay over 60m if he’s the CB we really need.

As much as it’s great using data to find good players and options like Vicario,

If the data also shows you Tapsoba is the one, have the fucking commitment to get it done.

Show some ambition

Yes but if the data throws up a name with similar-ish data to Tapsoba but will cost around 30 mill guess which one we will buy :levywhoa:

What if we sign Vicario now for 16.5 mill, Raya will have to stay at Brentford next season so we can then make an offer of 10 mill in Jan when he only has 6 months left on his deal

Raya and Vicario for a combined 26.5 mill :ange-clap:
