Wasn't a dig, pal 🙂

Just asking cause you're so vocal about them being exactly what we need, I thought you must have watched them loads.

But no problem if you haven't and you're just excited from what you've seen.

I just think that perhaps we should manage our expectations a wee bit...that way we don't end up with another Domb situation!!!

Adaraboiyo I have seen enough to say I think he's great partner in style for Romero.

Tapsoba I've seen and researched enough to see why the club have him as #1.

The others are linked and it's more about researching the job in Ange's system that needs to get done. Don't need to be that player exactly. Hatate looks great though.

Reckon we should take the piss and make a bid for Ivan Toney. Put an ankle bracelet on him or something.

Fucking hell, completely different league.

I don't get the spin, if you're playing the 'percentages' you go with the known not the unknown and we know that Raya is a good keeper, established in the PL and already based in London.

The club are just going for cheap and hope enough of them turn out to be hits. The managerial appointment was an indication that we are aiming low, signings like Vicario just reinforce this direction.
Or they reinforce the belief that they're "smart" signings. It all depends on your own outlook.

I'd love to see us "thinking outside the box" when it comes to our recruitment. If you can't match the spending of the doped clubs, then you have to be smarter. We used to be, which is the reason we rose from a relegation flirter to a CL regular. We stopped doing that and we've regressed since.

That doesn't mean that we only chase the cheaper, developing players though. If a player is the best available for the way Postecoglou wants to play, it shouldn't matter what his price is, whether it's high or low.

Hang on, we only heard about the links what, 2 days ago?

But we don't do early transfers...

€19M eh?

I know nothing about the bloke, past what the guys who've seen him play, so I'll ask those guys, is that a fair price/good price/steal for him?

Jaynola Jaynola You seem to watch a lot of Italian Football, what's your take on this?
He's a talented keeper, no doubt. Very spectacular, as highlights show. Like I said in another post, he's my fave behind Maignan, probably on par with Onana who's just crazy good with his feet. I prefer him to Meret from Napoli or the Roma keeper whose name I forgot (Portuguese bloke, I think).

Gugli's got to improve in a few areas. As a few have rightly pointed out, he has a tendency to push the ball back into dangerous areas...he actually conceded a few rebounds last season. But in the end he still conceded fewer goals than Empoli's xGA. His kicking can be worked on too...having better players (and coaching staff) around him will help. See how he handles claiming crosses when challenged by physically tough, nasty bastards in the PL.

Am I excited we got him? Yeah, sure. He'll defo be fun to watch and I think fans will love his big personality, he seems a character.

Never actually considered him a potential signing for Spurs cause I thought he'd do what most Italian players do ie stay in Serie A. Thought it was pretty much a done deal he'd end up at AC, Inter, Juve...

Forget Raya, getting this kid for 20mil is a very good piece of business. On paper at least. Let's just hope he won't get a shitty injury or lose his head living in London on big wages etc.

We arent buying cheap players because of some genius master plan like Moneyball or something. And anyone that thinks that is deluded.
If that was our methodology and we had some new fangled scientific approach or a change of scouting teams with fresh ideas I'd be all over it.

We are buying Vicario because Reya was too dear for Levy.

And now all I see is a load of stat waving and people on maximum cope trying to justify it. Reya was our first choice and we went with our second choice because the first choice was too pricey.

This is "ambition" under ENIC and it has ever been thus, with only a handfull of exceptions to the rule.

The punt could very well turn out to be a master stroke for all I know, but lets kid ourselves that we have unearthed a gem or some tosh. This guy is 2nd choice, could even be third for all we know.

And the likes of George Graham on max cope can put a little disagree all he wants but he knows this is the truth of the matter.

Exactly where I got to as soon I had a proper look at Vicario.

There is no reason he won't be better than Raya.

Yeh, fuck Buffon...... What does he know...... The lad must be shit, cos your ignorant ass says so..........

State of YOUR logic.
So if Buffon praises a player thats justification enough to sign them is it?
Could be his golfing buddy for all we know, Maybe he was asked his opinion and was being polite. Maybe he thinks he's the next big thing. Big fucking deal none of that means anything.

State of YOUR logic

Do you think Woolwich showed more ambition than us last summer?

I think one of the most prevailing reasons we never win anything, and the reason serial winning managers fail for the first time
working for Levy is because we cheap out on the managers targets and show an absolute lack of ambition compared to our peers.

It's not even an argument. There's 23 years of evidence and the words of numerous ex managers to back it up.

You cannot continue to challenge for major titles spending small money

For 20 years there is this owner, they will nothing. Why?

Spending big money to secure your first choice target is showing ambition.

For you to dress it up any other way is utter nonsense

Aaaaaaand we're off

I’m reading that Newcastle will be out of the mix after they drop 70m for Tonali (as much as a result of FFP as anything else).
It’s possible that other clubs will come into the mix but, historically, it’s the clubs that declare early that pursue. Of course, teams have been known to hijack.
IMO, we can afford to wait this one out and be prepared to look at other targets.

If I'm Levy......

"We'll take him for 35m or sign him for free next summer, you clapper cunts"
