Dorrington.

Big future. Ange is apparently taking him along to pre-season. Hope he has a great one

Wow! That's incredible, completely in a class of his own. He already has better technique than Sanchez, and frankly all out other CBs except maybe Romero.

Teams don’t because mostly unlike us they don’t get into this shit situation. Woolwich would have added 2 CB’s by the time they got round to this. This is pure excuses.
The modern football fan is incredibly entitled.

This isn’t McDonald’s… you don’t go in and just order the two centrebacks you want most. That’s not the reality and to pretend it is, is not being the tough « high standards » guy you think it is. You’re just divorced from reality.

Let’s leave it there.

For FFS many clubs but multiple players in a window. You just have very low standards, it’s fucking weird and quite frankly most of the forum think you are a bit odd.

No need to make it personal. I don’t know you - I don’t need props on an internet forum.

It would help the discussion if you read and responded to what was written. Strawmen about buying multiple players in a window are a waste of everyone’s time. You’re better than that.

Perhaps I made it a bit too personal and for that I apologise. I still think you have an attitude of very low expectations.

Mate, no one has seen our defence for years.

I think we need two centrebacks this window. That was never my point. My point was that saying a real team would go out and buy these two specific players (again, players 99% of us have never watched) is symptomatic of the fickle, entitled fanbase clubs have. It’s stupid.

We have fucked CB for too long, we need two decent CB’s whether that costs 20m or 70m that should not be beyond us. If we want to go cheap then we need to spend more on our scouting to do better targeting but I have a very short fuse regarding the post Poch rebuild. The club has fucked up enough, either scout clever or pay good money but don’t do neither.

As for those two specific players if they are the ones we should go for them but I am not going to base a decision from YouTube videos. We have scouts and they should decide within reason, long as we hit our internal targets whatever the cost I will not complain.

Ffs davies can’t play in a four. Did you seem
V Brentford? He was licked so easily. He should be out the door. Been here long enough like davies really don’t add any value. Basically they stunting development of younger players. We need to braver with using our younger players as way making up the competitive abd financialm gap we have with other top teams. That is the only way we are gonna be at top table. Dippers do it really well and also sell on a few for good money.

I’m not upset at all. I labelled the post entitled because it was to anyone with a developed sense of maturity. When grown men say it « sucks » that we can’t have both shiny objects (that we’ve likely never seen play) and that a real team would just buy both… that’s petulant.

Carry on though.
I have no idea how mature you are, but you certainly have a very developed inferiority complex.

What we all want is for the club to improve the squad to make us more competitive on the pitch. I think there’s widespread agreement we need to sell a lot of players as well as buy and that we want to buy players that will allow us to play more attractive football.

There are lots of ways to do this.

Also, the club might do this differently to your precise vision and still have done a reasonable job.

Personally I think we need to look at a few HG players and so somewhere we need to be buying them. Maddison and someone like Tosin might make sense. Equally it might be a HG winger… although beyond Barnes and Bowen I don’t know who that might be.

Squad building is complex and about balance and opportunity. There’s theory and there’s reality. Unfortunately fans often focus heavily on the theory and their view of reality is based mostly on supposition and rumour. That’s no good to the club IRL.

demanding we act like a « big club » and get deals done for top talent on an internet forum isn’t having a superior attitude.

It’s divorced from reality and likely to lead to frustration and disappointment. Happy to be proven wrong.

We should definitely be looking for a young winger who can beat players and score goals. Gil is a nice player but won't ever be a goal-scorer. Our academy players are only suitable for loans to lower leagues.
If Solomon really is available for free, he would be a very astute signing.

Despite his knee injury and only managing 500 minutes, still scored 5 goals and was in the:
94th percentile for successful dribbles per 90,
99th percentile for tackles and
99th percentile for % of dribblers tackled (both handy for a high press).

I can see perhaps one of them playing the 8 in a similar way to how Matt O'Riley does for Celtic, but no chance of both.

Bissouma is perfect for the McGregor role, absolutely. Good and comfortable on the ball, happy to receive it from the centre backs and turn and good at breaking lines with his passing.

Celtics #8s tended to drift out wide, which is where I think Kulusevski could excel in the role. Not only would he be able to creative from the middle, but he can also go out wide when the inverted pull back moves in to offer a bit more superiority in the middle.

I just think playing Maddison and Kulusevki in a midfield three with Bissouma behind them would be as stupidly naive as ten Hag was when he thought playing Eriksen and Fernandes in a midfield three was a good idea too.

I think we may see something different from Ange though tbh. Kane isn't his typical striker (Though funnily enough Son would be). So I have a feeling he will be giving us something different to what we saw at Celtic but within the same high energy, high pressing philosophy.
Horses for courses you'd hope. I don't think there's too much wrong with the formation for the majority of matches, but I wouldn't expect to see it in all of them.

A solid, mobile CB pairing would go a long way to making that formation a formidable one.

Nice

I like the variation of McDonald's , usually it's just a cornershop

We've got a creative one here
