Him plus 2 new CBs with Romero should be enough. Also have royal who can tuck in if needed. Get rid of Dav, dier, davies, Rodon and forget getting lenglet on cheap. Now that would be showing proper ambition and ruthlessness. We can’t have any of those players still around.
Oh I forgot to add jasphet. How many did CBs is that! It is shocking we have so many none fit for purpose. Wonder what that lot cost in wages. Sell/terminate contract all of them and any money raised / saved use to get 2 quality CBs. It’s got be quality over qty as we don’t extra players this season. Virtually 1 gane a week so exscuses. He’ll I’d give Maddison a swerve if we don’t have the resources just get the CBs. That should be priority. However reports suggest Ange”s priority is Maddison. Bit concerned there!

Why is everyone getting greedy .......we won't get both Tapsoba and VdV, that's potentially 90- 100 mill worth of centre back

It will be more likely one of those two as the marquee CB signing and then another cheapie like that Fulham guy Tosin.
We should be signing both even if it means we can’t invest in other areas. If you want a creative midfielder that badly, Roll the dice, Sacrifice a PEH by selling him, promote Sarr and use the cash to buy Maddison.

Last season was completely unacceptable defensively and the club shouldn’t be taking half measures in putting down a foundation in that department.

60 goals!!! Wtf.

I much prefer Davies as a squad defender over Dier so I’m not adverse to him and Tosin being the 2nd choice pairing BUT I’m also willing to put up with Dier being (a very distant) fourth choice, if we have a Romero Tapsoba and Mickey in the hybrid role upgrading on Davies.

That way we can just Let Dier’s contract run out and promote a Dorrington etc.

We seriously fucked up signing him.

Due to a combination of injury issues and other choices, though, a seriously unimpressed Diego Simeone only sent Reguilon onto the field for Atleti on 12 occasions during his loan spell.

Only two of his 11 La Liga appearances came as a starter, while his sole outing in the Copa del Rey was from the bench. Despite previous experience with Real Madrid and Sevilla, being back in Spain wasn’t as fruitful as it could have been for the 26-year-old.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Atleti will not be making an attempt to keep Reguilon after his loan spell. That can be inferred from the fact that they are now in talks for a new left-back.

According to AS, Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin has met with Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino to discuss a deal for Javi Galan.

Simeone has supposedly given the green light to the transfer, which should be able to go through for less than the €18m release clause in Galan’s contract.

Galan outclassed Reguilon in La Liga this season, starting 36 out of his 37 La Liga appearances and playing three times in the Copa del Rey. Across all competitions, Galan got four assists and one goal.

In contrast, Reguilon failed to contribute to any goal when he did get a rare opportunity to play for Atleti.

Reguilon faces uncertain future at Tottenham
What Tottenham do with him next remains to be seen. Ange Postecoglou is about to begin his reign as their new head coach.

Remaining Tottenham left-back Ben Davies faces an uncertain future this summer and might be sold. Ivan Perisic, who usually lined up as a left-wing-back in his debut Spurs season, might also be keen on a departure after Antonio Conte’s exit.

Therefore, there could yet be an opening for another left-back in the Spurs squad. They still have Reguilon under contract until 2025.

But perhaps they would prefer to sell him, so they will have to listen out for other offers now that Atleti have diverted their focus elsewhere.

I can’t help but feel that a couple of the recent transfers 2019 onwards might be better in a system and under a manager that encourages possession and attacking play rather than the deep lying passive nonsense we’ve seen for the past four seasons.

They may all be not good enough, but I could imagine, for instance, Reguillon being better in this set up than in any of the last 3 regimes. Truth is that any signing of three post CL final period has been at a club with so much instability and change that it’s been an almost impossible for them to acclimatise, particularly as my and large they were players suited to forward thinking football.

I can’t see Lo Celso, Winks, Ndombele or Rodon being kept but Gil I can quite imagine will be deemed a suitable option for the wings, and Reggie may well be seen as a preferable left back option to Davies even if Udogie comes back to steal the show.

Killman ? Better than Adaraboiyo?

No chance. Killman is very very average and 26 years old. If he was 22/23 then maybe Room to grow.
If he wasn’t left footed we’d have never even heard his name

A center back written off at 26??? They normally get better with age, 26 is young for a cb. Iirc the Fulham bloke is 25 and noone has even mentioned him before this summer and he plays for Fulham. If he is so special surely a bigger club would have snapped him up by now

He makes weird mistakes whenever I have seen him for Fulham. I don't want another "whoops I gave the ball away" defender.

I remember alot of people online relatively excited to be beating United to the signing Reguilon and were rather annoyed that we included a buy back clause into the deal.

Definitely shame it hasn't worked out. There were some real promising signs in his early days here both offensively and defensively. I remember him being excellent when keeping a cleansheet against City.

But for whatever reason, like many, it hasn't worked out. Perhaps that's because of the negative environment we had under Mourinho. Maybe he had been playing with a niggly injury which he played through, like for whatever reason a fair few of our players are allowed to do, who knows.

Nice bloke, good character and I imagine Ange will want to look at him, especially after reports he wants to look and Tanguy and Gio. But I can't see him sticking around.

Another failed player of the “WINNERMANIA” era

That was the whole premise of the discussion - signing two in demand centrebacks. Once you sign the first, signing the second is harder because one of the things players are looking for (minutes) becomes harder to obtain.

Note: in demand players, by definition, have choice. You are therefore competing against other clubs. Our competitive advantage is weak at the moment.

Clearly if I had said that people are deluded for expecting us to address glaring weaknesses, then I’d be wrong. However that is not what I said.
Competing with other clubs for in demand players is a given. When you NEED 2 CB's, giving them minutes is hardly something we won't be able to do. We may not be in Europe, but that's 1 competition, whilst we are in another 3.

I acknowledge the point you're putting across and agree with it to a certain extent. However, if these 2 players are our main targets, then it's up to the club to sell them the vision and their integral part in it.

If Liverpool are in the running with us then we have to sell our "back in the CL and competing for the title" spiel better than them. I doubt Europa League is going to sway them, so it's the vision, along with the money, the City, the facilities, the stadium...

If we want them we need to sell the whole package better than the competition.

I'm clinging on to the idea of him turning it round for us, mainly because his parents live just down the road (or at least used to, don't know if we're still near-neighbours) and I still have the fantasy that I'm going to bump into Reg, we go for a coffee and become best mates.
