Player James Maddison

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Can’t lie, the anti spurs comments do bother me. But he’s a pro and he’s signed for us for a reason. Rejecting Newcastle who have champions league, shows we are the bigger club and he senses the start of something good at spurs.

Won’t be a favourite of mine, but fully looking forward to him taking us up the table! He’s exactly what we needed

Sorry, but I just don't see rice as a good footballer.. he can run with the ball has decent power and pings the occasional shot on target . But his distribution is woeful and his first touch isn't great... And I honestly thought that recent final west ham 'won' he was woeful.. I was embarrassed that hes been touted as the next big England thing... But I thought the same about Phillips when he came through ... I just couldn't see it... Bellingham yeah absolutely.. but Phillips and rice. Sorry but no...Edit. oh the other thing I can't see is this abject hatred for lenglet... He wasn't world class as his release fee suggested... But He's strong enuf, distribution is good enuf and he can/does carry the ball forward and is no slouch pace wise ... I thought he improved and gained confidence with every game... defensively he could improve ... But
c/defending is all about partnerships and for me he improved in every game.. International quality Left footed center Bacs aren't easy to find... and hes not a terrible one and if we can get a deal on him .. I wouldn't be unhappy him staying.
i watched us play west ham in the league cup a few years ago and imo rice was best player on the pitch. he was everywhere for them and didnt put a foot wrong. he might not have the touch of iniesta but hes not that type of player, hes not an elegant footballer hes more like a solid all rounder that helps his team power through in a way. but i hope youre right!!!

i like lenglet. when we played barca at wembley a few years ago i thought he was unreal for them! so maybe i have a soft spot for him for that, but i agree. his actual defending is not great at all, but his passing and his decision making on the ball is elite for a CB. hes got such a clean technique for a CB. yea he got better as he got more game time. the fact of the matter is, the only defender at the club whos ahead of him is romero! he shits all over the rest of them so you have to be realistic on a rebuild, get rid of the weakest links.

lenglet would be best suited to do the role of the defender joining the midfield when you have the ball, like what city do with stones. hes better on the ball than romero. or if poste plays this inverted fullbacks then maybe lenglet would be best suited to lb for that. get high up and come inside, he has a lovely cross on him from deep

Can’t remember the last time we signed someone where I was this confident about it working. Known quantity in a position we need, completely turns around how good our midfield looks, from Hojbjerg-Skipp at the end of last season to Maddison-Bissouma-Bentancur but November is a phenomenal upgrade.

Yep. .
. When I finished posting ... I thought what about his tackles... NO DOUBTS hes good at breaking plays up and breaking through the lines. But at Woolwich in he's got to use the ball intelligently..he just doesn't ...I'm just not seeing how pep or arteta sees that working with him .. pep brought Phillips and It seemed like I was the only person that couldn't see him being good enough for their type of play... Perhaps the last season he improved his skill set... Perhaps... Time will tell... Im thinking the same with rice at Woolwich...his basic skill sets are poor...arteta won't have him running around covering the whole park being a fucking hero... like on a good day he does for the spammers and England. It just won't be allowed... But we'll see..

yea i see what youre getting at and i hope youre bang on. hopefully he just doesnt suot a more possession based team that plays against teams majority of the time looking to counter them.

but good footballers are good footballers and if he is one of them then hell be just fine.

Newcastle forum thread on Maddison is 200 pages long, started last year and they're still posting about him.
They really still obsessed about him.....they've wasted a whole year getting stiff and dreaming about him.......which of their players he would link up with 😂
Great how this thread has started a day before he officially signs

Good thing as well that Spurs fans certainly, and this forum most certainly would never, ever, ever do anything similar. :romerohold:

Not good. This is the bloke I dread my grand daughters bringing home.

can play and I think he gives us a ton of what we needed, but he looks and sounds like my worst fucking nightmare.

he goona need to score and assist a fuckton for me to forgive him for being a bellend

This post is good fun as is. I actively chose to read as if you never switched to talking about football and was talking about someone dating your grand daughter to the end. Much more fun :kulushock:

Stevie Nichols on ESPN FC said tonight that Maddison will fit right in at Spurs because he is the kind of mid player who looks good when things are going well but disappears when things aren't.... just like the rest of the Spurs players. And that's why no big clubs like City or Liverpool went for him. He's fundamentally not a winner and that's why Leicester got relegated and mid-table Spurs are his level.

this is the kind of shit media we have to put up with over here
