Who from their squad is actually worth looking at... ????

Genuine question, do not watch them at all.

You guys are the resident European football buffs, do your thing.
Haha, not a whole lot really. Squad full of technically solid, competitive players.. not really many you'd say would come in and lift us a whole lot. Loic Bade is a pretty good rcb. En Nesyri is a decent forward option for somebody but not a player I'd want us to sign. Ocampos similar. Acuna a dogged lb . Tanguy Nianzou talented 21yo cb, bit error prone, spent lots of the season injured, could become a good player. Bounou a pretty good keeper. Rakatic, Suso, Navas, Papu Gomez, Lamela.. just a fairly experienced and competitive group of players who ground out a Europa League win.

En Nesyri is the one who rings a bell, seem to remember him being touted for high fees. Not a clue whether he'd be a reasonable answer to a post-Kane world but seems highly unlikely. Suso is a bit of a blast from the past, always seems to have hovered around the edges of being really good but never quite made it.

From the names mentioned, seems more a team with a decent collective of reasonably technical, proper La Liga players rather than any stand-out potential gems. Can see why Lamela & Gil appealed to them.
Don’t know the guy’s name but the centre back with the ponytail and tattoos is a beast and excellent on the ball.

I had very high hopes for Reguilon but he does have a tendency to play like a dog chasing a ball. And the fitness issues are a worry.

There was a period though where he was nailing popping up in nice attacking positions and even scored a few.
In any case we won't get jack shit for him in the transfer market

He joins a couple in Lo Celso & Gil who are unfortunately likely to be more attractive to Spanish clubs than anybody else ... the unfortunate bit being, Spanish teams are bloody broke. If these lads were English, a bottom half team would happily cough up healthy fees.

I wouldn't be opposed to moving Perisic's big wage on and having Reguilon/Udogie for a season.

Palkin - Shakhtar Donetsk’s chief executive - said of 'free agent' Soloman:
“I contacted Solomon and his agent and invited him back to our club. I said: ‘you can play all the games in Champions League, you will be in the starting eleven’ but he doesn’t want to move and I believe he will stay in England."

“Where he will go? I don’t know. In any case, if you go to Tottenham, we will deal with Tottenham in court in this case. Everything comes to a simple situation: it sounds like unjust enrichment. Can you imagine, we pay big money for this player and finally Tottenham receives him for free? It is not fair in respect of our club. We will definitely go to court and we will fight for ourselves.”

He added: “I would like to send a message to those clubs who are trying to sign our players without paying a transfer fee: Shakhtar will file claims for unjust enrichment against players or clubs who have enriched themselves and benefitted by obtaining a financial advantage.”
Is there another side to this? If not, what Palkin says makes a lot of sense. Would hate for Spurs to benefit from an unjust war without providing some fair compensation to Shakhtar. Is the friendly in August a direct answer to this situation and maybe this quote is a few days old?

One of the most overated full backs of the last 20 years imo

Weak as piss
Dreadful defensive awareness
Technically very average

People cain Emerson but at least he can defend

We should bite the hand off any bidder for Reguilon

£22m + Gil should cover it :levystare:

Newcastle had a choice - Tonali or push for Maddison who had already expressed a preference for Spurs and London rather than Newcastle.

Newcastle are NOT the richest club in the world - far from it. Based upon last year's figures their turnover is about 1/3rd of Spurs turnover. And their first CL football in about 20 years - or actually first european football in that time - so maybe Maddison and advisors don't believe Newcastle will outperform Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea and maybe others to maintain a CL spot ? Book makers will almost certainly agree.

One of their joint owners is very rich, the other (Staverly) may be declared bankrupt shortly, or may need to do some deals to avoid it.
Wait, you think Newcastle can only spend their income?
Like City, Chelsea, PSG etc do yeah?
We got Maddison because he wanted us, not because they made 1/3 of our turnover.

La Liga is broke unless you're Barca or Madrid, so hard to pin it on being poorly run. Lot of clubs in the country seem to be suffering similar problems. Sevilla don't seem to have spent ridiculous money at any point, but the share of TV money which makes up the vast majority of PL revenue just isn't anywhere near as lucrative over there.

But still, as a Sevilla fan you've watched the club lift a whole bunch of trophies, financial issues can't take that away. Surprised this is all rearing its head now, so soon after the big Kounde transfer, winning the EL prize money & qualifying for the CL. Surely that's helped them out a lot?
Barca are struggling too

Their revenue is really high though. They're struggling due to their own stupidity ... spending insane money on Dembele, Coutinho, Griezmann etc. Pure insanity, essentially ... they make loads, and then spend even more.

Most of the league just straight up have no revenue streams.
True true... A thing that is missing is Spanish ffp is a lot stricter than most and it's looking more real time than elsewhere.

Italy /Spain were the super league at a point, difference (right now) is our funds are somewhat spread out. The American owners are trying to stop that.

Oil states are a different issue
