It's really hard to resist calling out bs. And even though you make a good point, this isn't the US Congress, where we need to put our differences aside to pass meaningful legislation for the good of the country. If by which you mean that he was party to a contract that the other party can hold him to if he so chooses then, yes, he’s lost control. Shockingly, that’s generally how contracts work.
