If we get both CBs (VDV2 & Tapsoba) and an expensive CF such as Vlahovic, then this is Bale & the Magnificent 7 all over again.

Levy spending the cash before prices are inflated, knowing our best player will eventually be sold to the highest bidder.

I'm good with that in theory. It's just the faith in our recruitment that's taken a battering.

That Bale spend wasn't as bad as is often made out. We should have got more out of Capoue, who was much better than some of the wankers we ended up with in midfield. cCould have sold Eriksen alone in his pomp and recovered a chunk of that money. As it was we still ended up +4m on those deals, plus whatever Lamela knocked the Gil deal, even though there was some real shonky players in that bunch.

Accepting the likelihood that a replacement 25-30 goal p/a striker is slim to zero; I'd definitely prefer to ride a season out with Son & Richy at CF and see how that unfolds with the any potential money spent in the surrounding positions instead...... Probably get a lot more bang for our buck blowing out on a couple of WFwds...... Then you can revisit the trf market for a new CF in Summer 24 if one of Son or Rich has bombed out (or lost that crucial bit of zip in Sonny's case).

Very much agree.

If we get Van De Ven as reported for less than £30M we have no excuse not to go for Tapsoba for 40-45M.

It's time. we conceded 63 goals last year.

SIXTY THREE!!

if you take away the 3 relegated teams only 2 teams conceded more than us. Forest and Bournemouth

That is fucking pathetic.

No more Dier, Lloris, Sanchez, Lenglet, Davies etc etc

Step up Tottenham, open your eyes.
Nailed it

Chadli for 7m was a good little bit of business too.

There is a caveat that you don't bring in both Tapsoba and van der Ven if part of their assurances are going straight into the first XI guaranteed (not that I do think that's the case).

But if there's a straight up opportunity to buy vdV for 30 million instead of Lenglet for 5 million and we don't take it then I fear we haven't learned quite all the lessons we should have.

Even still talking about Lenglet is crazy. Lenglet is an ok player and once looked good during a short period at Sevilla but that was 5 years ago. The fact is he was an impulse buy by Bartomeu when Barcelona making stupid transfer decisions.

I know it’s been asked before, but can’t recall seeing it answered, so, who the fuck is Paul o’Keefe? He seems to be all over everything that we are doing, but the only stuff I have found out about him is he’s an agent for non league players and a pub DJ.

Yet every page of this thread has him standing astride it, offering us stone tablets from the mount. Do we know if he’s anything other than mouth?

I think there are still a few CB's in play :

VdV
Tapsoba
Tosin (conveniently HG)
Nelsson. (at Galatasaray where we are maybe selling Suarez - 'give us a good deal on Nelsson and we'll do same on Suarez)

Lenglet.

Hopefully we get first two in at an acceptable price but if necessary we have alternatives available. Lenglet last option but unlikely we buy imo as high wages, not a big upgrade for us and age against him.

Then Hojbjerg seems likely to go so we need to probably pay another 10m/20m on top of his incoming fee to get a better replacement.

Only question is how many get on the plane - the more the better but even one CB will be fine paired with Romero plus Dier and Dorrington to play a part ?

I think he has some genuine information, but these days nobody has great sources.

So worthwhile tracking a few who are in same boat (eg Darren Yardley, Zeus and a few others) to see what they are saying and if it sounds plausible/sensible

does hojberg need replacing? only domestic football next year. sarr probably a better fit than him anyway in a system that requires midfield to play a bit. so he would of been 5th choice, instead of him being 5th its skipp...might as well invest that money into the backline. unlikely we will get a CM whos going to get in front of bissouma, bent or maddison for 40m

Yes, he has a very reliable track record.

In this summer window, he was the first to mention our links to Vicario. Only after he mentioned Vicario did other media start reporting it.

I’m highly sceptical of ITK. I was asking who he was at the start of the summer. He has a good track record since I’ve been paying attention.

No idea who he is or if he’s real.

Hard working, decent technically, moves a lot, finishes ok in the box.

Not a target man like Vlahovic
Vlahovic isn't a target man. He is more like a van Nistelrooy type.

Whilst Kyogo is a harder worker (IMO) I would say Vlahovic (whilst also works hard) is better technically, as good off the ball, better finisher, better in the air and stronger, though not as fast but still quite quick.

Yes we do. That would leave us with 5 players for 3 positions, 1 of which is injured until possibly November and 2 others (Bissouma and Sarr) will be away in January and part of Feb with ANC.
