The centre back issue is doing my tits in. We go on tour with players that aren’t going to start the season. This should’ve been sorted but once again we are fucking about. This is the time where Ange is trying to get players to buy into what he wants and we might have Rodon or Dier playing next to Romero. Fuck my life
Yep, it's beyond shambolic, Top quality centre backs was the most importart thing for us to resolve.
Goalkeeper was a close second, and fair enough at least we got that done early.

I am really pleased that we signed Maddison but Centre back was/is far more important.

There is still time but imo we need 2 and we need to bed them in and have a proper pre-season, otherwise you end up starting the season with the usual suspects, which could really put Ange under pressure from the get go.

True. But I can say Raya did exceptionally well in the EPL. Can't say the same for Vicario.
With that logic we would only be buying players from the PL. And goalkeepers are a bit of a different proposition, in that they adapt much more quickly because their main task is to make saves. As someone else said, a shot in the bottom corner from 6 yards out is the same in the PL as it is in Italy, or Spain, or Slovakia.

Regarding Gabi Veiga........

Pini Zahavi could be vital for Tottenham

One of the key figures here is agent Zahavi.

The 79-year-old agent also represents Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and recently brokered a deal for Spurs.

Tottenham have snapped up Israeli winger Manor Solomon with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Zahavi completed the deal.

Spurs seem to have a good rapport with Zahavi, who also brokered Jose Mourinho’s 2019 move to Tottenham.

That relationship could be vital for Tottenham in their pursuit of Veiga, possible giving them an edge in the race.
This actually makes sense

I wonder what the average gap to second place is across the leagues… suspect PL is closer but don’t really care enough to look. Feels as tho Bayern have it won by March most years
It might feel like that but it’s not true. Bayern won the league on the final day of the season.

Bayern won the league by 0 points (goal difference) in a thrilling end to the season.

PSG won the league by 1 point.

Man City won the league by 5 points.

Seems like it was a lot closer in Ligue 1 and Bundesliga than the premier league.

I also used excel to do as you suggested. I worked out the average distance between each team from the winners. Bundesliga has 2 fewer teams so 4 fewer games but they were so far ahead it won’t change anything.

Bundesliga closest.
Then Ligue 1.
Then the PL.

So if we look at what actually happened last season, the PL is not amazingly competitive. In fact it compares quite poorly.

Almost like inequality is bad for competition.

Postecoglou has shown a preference for strikers who are mobile and agile, and who can link up with the midfielders and create chances. This suggests that he would prefer a striker more like Jonathan David than Dusan Vlahovic.

For example, at Celtic, Postecoglou's preferred striker was Kyogo Furuhashi. Furuhashi is a mobile and agile striker who is good at running in behind defenders and creating chances. He is also a good dribbler and passer, which allows him to fit into Postecoglou's system.

Of course, Postecoglou is not opposed to having a more powerful and clinical striker in his team. For example, at Yokohama F. Marinos, Postecoglou's preferred striker was Carlos Eduardo. Eduardo is a powerful and clinical striker who is good at scoring goals in the box. However, he is not as mobile as Furuhashi, and he does not have the same creativity.

Ultimately, the type of striker that Postecoglou prefers will depend on the specific needs of his team. However, he has shown a preference for strikers who are mobile and agile, and who can link up with the midfielders and create chances.
Maybe I should have concluded the AI reasoning, but I probably got lost during the way.

The conclusion is that Jonathan Davies probably is a better match for Ange-boll than Dusan Vlahovic

I got a feeling Liverpool are going to have a bit of a repeat of last season.

They spent big on Szoboszlai who I actually really like but I have a feeling he might just be one of them players every one really likes but just doesn't do it
Really like him too Szoboszlai but they really needed fresh legs. Fabinho and Hendo running is like watching Joe Biden walk.

Klopp hasn’t nailed a transfer since Edwards left.

IMO the most robust and apples-to-apples way to make this comparison is betting markets.

City is a -125 favorite to win the PL next year.

Bayern is a -400 favorite to win the Bundesliga next year

PSG is a -670 favorite to win Ligue 1 next year

Real Madrid is a +105 favorite to win La Liga next year

Napoli is a +200 favorite to win Serie A next year

That tells the story of the relative jeopardy at the top of those leagues pretty accurately, I'd say.

Be curious to know how many on here would rather we spend say 30 or 40 mil on that Celta kid than a big fat 0 on Gallagher?

* Yeah I bloody know Gallagher wouldn't come on a free *

Betting odds for next year tell a better story than actual results last year?

Hmmm ok
