Because a 50m sale for a Bundesliga club can fund their entire transfer window.

So they have less pressure or need to sell any further stars, especially when Tapsoba has 3 years on his deal.

Taposoba was always the expensive "we tried" deal of the summer but if they sell Diaby, we will then hear the excuse about "goal posts moving" or Leverkusen asking for an unreasonable amount.
That’s entirely my point, this is pure assumption that has now become the reality of the situation. None of us know anything about their desires or financials.

There were a lot of reasons for us conceding the way we did last season: our CBs were all bad, constantly dropping clangers and failing to do the basics, this includes Romero, our MCs outside of Bentancur did not do enough defensive work, our keepers were a mess, Perisic and Son pretty much contributed nothing off the ball, Porro couldn't stop a 9-year-old girl running down the flank.
I agree. I desperately want to see new CB additions and change but even if we had the same players again for next season I would not expect us to be so bad.

I'd put some of last season down to the set up and expectations under Conte, the confusion with changes of management and never seemingly being settled.

Worth looking at a few other clubs transfers in https://www.premierleague.com/transfers :

Woolwich 2 (Havertz, Timber)
A Villa 2 (Tielmans, Torres)
Liverpool 2 (Mac Allistair, Szaboszlai)
ManCity 1 (Kovacic)
ManU 1 (Mount)
Newcastle 2 (Tonali, Minteh)

Think that covers most of clubs who finished above or around us (except Chelsea who seem to want to buy and sell another team).

So Spurs with 3 signings are doing as well as anyone in buying in the window so far !
It’s CB though. We’ve moved quickly and smartly on the positions not as important as CB.

No one is sure what’s going on but whatever the device they need to step it a pace

Found this interesting. Seems more of the fox in the box and running in behind type that Ange usually plays with.

Richy and Ramos might even give us real variety and rotation up top. Fresher legs for pressing.

He’s cost over 100M

I have a feeling the players going there are going to find it a lot harder getting out their contracts, should they not enjoy playing in the desert, than it was getting into them.

100%...

There'll be no 'signed for 4 years/sold after 3 to avoid leaving on a free' or "I'm homesick.... I'll take a paycut if it means a return to Blighty".

Doubt they'll even care if these players perform to begin with.... It's just a power-play for the foreseeable.

You only need to see that clip of Gerrard coaching like tony adam’s to know it is farcical. When a lot of these players get over there they just won’t bother. I’ve gone past the stage of blaming the players for taking the money and going there now. The sums are astronomical for a couple of years work. But alongside that if they start crying for home, start moaning about not getting paid or start complaining about the sand in their jockstraps, I will have no sympathy.

we finished second, we signed no one lol

arse finish second, they spend 226m on three players (transfermarkt)

We are not replacing Kane. We will change our style instead. And the sooner we do it, the better. Would rather it happen now that we are rebuilding than be 50% of the way there, then Kane leaves, and we have to readjust all over again.
I’d be more happy if we got our defensive side sorted this summer and then worry about the attacking side next year if and when Kane leaves.

Too much to do without having to worry about an attack that doesn’t need much work right now.

Not sure on that priority.

GK a necessity with Lloris form fading before our eyes.

and Conte didn't want creativity so we needed to get a top guy in fast.

Of course CB's also important, but it maybe that other clubs also in the mix to buy holding things up or other factors fans don't know about . Either way I'm surprised we haven't got one in yet (and I agree we want two).

However 3 in and maybe 3 to come would not be a bad result
