Why is this window a bad comparison?
Or even last summer and this summer?

Anyway, fuck Woolwich, loads of their players are massively overrated and we are going to embarrass them this season but none of us can deny we wouldn’t, just once, want to see our team being the ones dropping 105m on an established world class player.
Is Rice this?

World class is subjective but since we used to have posters on here who would argue Kane wasn't world class I would say no.

Established is a bit much too I would argue.

We are on 60m so far and have already sorted GK, AM, LWF.

Do I expect to see 90m go on 2 CBs and whatever else we bring in?

No I don’t. Do you?
I think fir now another say £60/70M on 2 CBs with some out going’s will do unless lane goes. We have enough cover in other positions fir now. May not be the best but if we get that defence sorted out we can then build. However without that we ain’t going anywhere. You could have prime messi Ronaldo and mbappe upfront but if you have the likes of dier Dav davies Rodon jasphet at the back you ain’t going no where!

Airfixx Airfixx You claimed that Woolwich and Spurs net spend were comparable.

They may have been ripped off for players, but they've now spent over £200m in this window.

How much have we invested in players by comparison?

It wasn't a "claim"..... I posted FACTUAL info that was correct as per the time of posting 2/3 weeks ago.

At that point they'd spent about €20m more than us since we moved into NWHL (19/20).

Take my prior post on the subject as a starting point... Log onto TFM... Grab a caclulator and satisfy your curiosity....

That's all I did last time.

70m on CB?
Can’t see it.
Maybe €70m but even that would be absolutely top end.

Still not 150m total

I think the important thing is intent and vision.

Levy didn't see the Poch miracle coming, didn't really trust him, and was left not knowing whether to stick or twist, and kind of did neither.

Woolwich came up short this season but believe in Lego Man, believe they are on the right path and are going all-in to support the project right now.

Is Lego Man capable of delivering on that backing? Are they as close as they think they are? Have they bought the right players? That all remains to be seen. I hope it's a disaster and not Klopp's Liverpool 2.0.

But they have chosen a sharply different path and different vision than Spurs did when we were in a similar position in Summer 2017, that part is undeniable.

60m on two new CB would be sufficient from the board imo. any more improvements on top of that you would have to applaud them this window, any less and they haven't done enough.

if kane goes then it changes everything.

IF Harry goes then the vast majority of his transfer fee will be spent paying for a replacment, which quite frankly isn't out there, for a team with no Europian footie next season.

Levy really is caught between a hard place and a rock.

Richy isn't the answer, and has never been a prolific scorer.

yea exactly, hes irreplaceable. even if we had CL football its still not doable. wed have to strengthern elsewhere to mitigate it.

Rice is in the elite group of DMs in the world.
He’s certainly in a bracket of players that isn’t realistic to expect Levy and ENIC to sign.

They could but never would
I disagree about Rice.

Good player yes but has done nothing to convince me anyone should be paying £100m for him.

This is a by product of the wealth in the Premier League as far as I'm concerned. It means even relegation candidates can put a ridiculous price their best player.

You can argue semantics but Woolwich are seizing their moment and going all out for it in a way we never did in 2016-2018. Yeah, yeah, stadium costs, yada, yada, yada, but the truth is we had our shot and let it slip away,
