They don’t have to be Saudi. The anti-ENIC crew were salivating for Qatari money. Saudi <> Qatar. Most of the oil producing states have multiple national investment funds.

FSG don’t put in their own money. They start with a 100-150m advantage over us each year because Liverpool have greater brand recognition and a much higher commercial revenue. They need to put in far less to compete with sports washed clubs. Even then, there is a huge FSG Out movement because they operate on a self-sustainable model.

It’s not that British owners can’t win the EPL anymore. It’s more that they’re not rich enough to buy clubs that generate enough revenue to win the EPL. A subtle difference but, in practice, it amounts to the same thing.
Liverpool won everything and didn’t have more revenue than UTD

We’ve got a 35 man squad atm. Until we shift some players we can’t bring in players to develop.

Although disagreeing with myself slightly, the thing I’d do is buy him, loan Bristol City Devine for a year so he can play some senior football, and loan Scott to Luton to get him PL ready and then bring them both back next summer.
That's a cunning plan. I am not being sarcastic.

"Anyone but ENIC" doesn't mean what it says.... This was proven when the Iranian guy was sniffing about the club last year and it was suggested he wouldn't be a free-spender due to his ops at his other sports teams...... Suddenly he was deemed no good for us either.

Just like "Anyone but Nuno" was BS too.

It was a bit of a perfect storm situation

Got peak money for countinho

every player recruited was a resounding success (and some)

Resulting in the perfect squad for klopp to knock into a footballing machine

we’ll soon find out if it was a unique confluence of events or if it’s something they’ve the expertise to repeat

I think it was part fluke

Yes, they were very good after a confluence of pretty fortunate events — thank you, Barcelona— as we were for a number of years. But they’ve not been able to compete with City over a three year period let alone five or more. That they’ve been more successful than United says more about how poorly United have been run than anything about Liverpool.

As it is, their fans have quickly forgotten their success and are clamoring for them to go toe to toe with City. This is something that their owners are reluctant to do ( as they would need to spend an extra 100m per year or so) hence the sizable FSG Out movement. Shockingly, this brigade are also hopeful of owners with unlimited funds from an oil producing state.

You are very wrong about this. It isn't Levy and Lewis's club anymore than anyone else. Knowing the cost of something does not mean you know its value. The team is a history and legacy that extend beyond simple ownership. They are at best it's current custodians. I have even heard Levy himself acknowledge this.

In truth, they’re the only people who have a say in how the club is run.
This humble custodian language is purely for public relations.

Maybe our turn to get lucky with the Kane money

There's nothing humble about them and I did not refer to who aministers what. But it does not alter the fact the club will be there after Lewis and Levy, as it was before.

I knew nothing of who owned it when my dad told me those first stories of watching Jimmy Greaves and cared not a jot. This is not PR its my family history and a connection to something that is not about ENIC the woman's team or Go-karts. It's no more rational than any article of faith be it transubstantiation, or Moksha. These are not things that get owned no matter what companies house thinks.

I was referring to their language and not them.
In practice, they are entirely responsible for the how the club is run regardless of the platitudes they might put out that suggests it’s a broader ownership.

Yes, we’ll be here after they leave but I’m under no pretense as to who ‘owns’ the club. They might not own the tradition and history but they’ve got everything else.

There is no point getting too wound up by ITK.
It's almost the same script every summer, the manager wants certain players in before deadline X.
And then, we get the rumours of manager frustrated because, player X didn't come in.
We all know what our club is about, and where it stands, so will we give the manager the best start, probably not, will we achieve much this coming season, again probably not, whoever is in charge is conned and hoodwinked from the start.
If the new fella gets, the same finishing position as last year, then he has done well or on par with what he has to operate in.
Unless old Joe decides to sell up , then this is it.
