Seems as I haven't actually seen anyone bring this up....

Do you not feel that the huge increase in our wage structure while Poch was in charge assisted in keeping all but one of our best players at the club?

I personally think the wages we pay are massively overlooked and whilst no one can deny City, Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool can still typically blow us out of the water with wages, we certainly narrowed that gap.

Had we not have done you wouldn't have seen any Poch miracles.
This is an absolutely ridiculous point that screams "I have a perspective and I'm going to look for random shit that I can cobble together as tenuous support".

All the players in Poch's best years were here except for Sonny, Dele, and Toby...none of which were on "hugh increase in our wage structure" in 2014-2017. Most of those players had been here a bit and were doing shit. And by the time they got improved contracts this was DL protecting value not formulating a sporting plan because Poch and the team were already on the up.

Amazing! Now the Poch years were due to Daniel Levy being less of a skinflint.

Romero is the 9th highest paid defender in the league - in the same price range as VDV, TAA and Laporte.

Are you saying that price range is unacceptable?
No.

Not really sure why you’re challenging the point. We pay a bit less than the top 4 or 5. It is what it is. It dictates the type of players we go for as we don’t like nosebleed wages.

Those that stay around long enough and we want to keep end up on really good money.

I agree but I also don't think Maddisons or Romero's wages are bottom of a reasonable ladder.' They are top 10% of earners in the entire league and I feel making out like we aren't paying very good wages for new players we bring is inaccurate.

Incidentally I’m quite certain the string of paying less than half of turnover in wages will end in 2023/24, but turnover being slashed by missing Europe entirely is, uh, not the ideal way to have that happen.
