Wait we're not allowed to reference other clubs yet-to-be-completed signings in order to draw parallels with our own; but (In the last post of yours I noticed) you want us to make sure we go out of our way to give plaudits to any of our rivals when they win something???

Really???

We had an entire summer last summer of "ooooh look who the chavs are signing..... They're gonna be "frightening" this season".... Half of the deals didn't happen and the other half proved to be shit. We had three years of crying that Everton were "humiliating" and "shaming" us in the trf window and now they're relegation fodder on the brink of going bust.

Bollocks.

.......And bollocks to giving other clubs a hearty pat on the back too.
Totally agree. Why are so many on here concerning themselves with what other clubs "might" be doing. I thought it was a Spurs forum.

A less than ideal situation is also known as « reality ». All clubs experience this. Last year our signings were in unusually early and…

So yes, the melting is unwarranted. What we need is talented players to come in and play. I don’t know what negative effects you think will flow from this?

The tour is a good opportunity to build team togetherness and learn what the coach wants, no doubt. But it’s not some fatal blow to our season. Whichever young defender comes in will need time to adjust to the country and the league regardless of when they come. By that time, no one will remember if they came two weeks earlier or later.

This panic and grand claims of « inexcusable » inaction is ridiculously over the top. What matters is that we get the right players in with the right profile.

That’s an open question and I’m sure when the players return from flying around the world, we’ll have a good centreback signed. And if that happens we should all be happy and stop the overly negative moaning.

I guarantee no one will be saying in November
that things would be so much better if our centrebacks arrived two weeks earlier.
We started last season exceptionally results wise, so you can argue there was a benefit to bringing signings in early.

You’ve touched on this within some of your posts, but the frustration about a CB isn’t necessarily coming from direct angst at this transfer window. We needed a top CB last summer and after flirting with Bastoni all summer were left with a mediocre Lenglet on loan.

We made no attempt to rectify the situation in Jan.

So it’s clear a portion of our fans were hoping that with this in mind, and the poor defensive record we had last season (albeit that was about much more than just CB), something would have happened early. Whilst the window has only been open a few weeks, we all know negotiations often start long before that.

I think it’s fair to ask why we’ve not made a CB addition to the squad yet, even if some of the rhetoric has been a little OTT.

Regardless, it seems likely we’ll bring at least 1 CB in. The bigger question is “how good are they”? Everyone getting a boner about VDV but no one here has watched the guy for more than a couple of games.

We absolutely have to get this right.

bollocks. Acting all smarmy and holier than thou just cos you've rationalized yourself into accepting a less than ideal situation.

We should have had at least one proper CB ready before the preseason tour. There's just no excusing it, we've been through the same song and dance with both Skriniar and Bastoni in recent memory. Our defensive situation has only become more serious.

What you and the other guy posted isn't "balanced" or "voice of reason", there's no reasoning at all, it's just it's faith that everything will work out in the end.

I do believe we will end up with a CB by the end of the window, but given dire need, it's already a partial failure that the new CB wasn't on that plane. That can't be undone.
In a rebuild that's expected to take a couple of years not getting in a CB before the start of our tour is negligible, as long as we get the right CB(s). It's not like it's the final piece for us to challenge for the title this season.

Ok young mam. Let's just clear this up.

You're the biggest serial 'x' abuser on this forum. By far. So stop blubbering like a baby when you correctly get some back.

Here's a friendly tip from one yid to another.... . . Stop posting shit while claiming everyone who's opinion differs from your own must be a fan of our biggest rivals and in turn I'll refrain from calling this crap out.

Sounds like a fair deal to me?
I take offense to this post. I'm the biggest X abuser.

We'll probably start the season with a partially rebuilt squad and/or bring players in late, which means they miss preseason.
Still having a rubbish defence with no new centrebacks has an obvious reason behind it, a genius of a reason. When in training our goals orders will be banging in goals for fun against the likes of Dier and Sanchez. That will achieve 2 things, firstly it will give Son, Richy Dejan and Solomon great coincidence before the season and also give Harry the chance to break another record as the highest ever scorer in trading matches during the Premier League era. Bit of an upside down tactic but Ange is from Australia.

Banging goals and looking good in training is one thing, doing it in the prem is another.

Vitor Roque’s agent made a massive claim about Tottenham last week.

Indeed, the young Brazilian striker’s representative was rather loose-lipped in the media last week, and he claimed that Tottenham Hotspur had looked into a €100m (£86m) deal for the attacker.

Of course, these comments were met with raised eyebrows. After all, that’s a shedload of money for Spurs to spend on any player, let alone a striker who is largely unproven at the top level.

However, speaking on The Debrief Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Spurs did indeed show an interest in the £35m new Barcelona signing. Although, he did note that he couldn’t confirm that such a massive offer had been made.

Romano shared what he knows about the forward.

“I think there are many options on the market, many top clubs in Europe are working on strikers. Tottenham will really really try to keep Harry Kane until the end of the window, but if he does leave I’m sure they will enter the striker’s domino. At the moment nothing is close with any player. What I can reveal is that I’m hearing that what the agent said about Vitor Roque in public about Tottenham, I can’t confirm the €100m bid, but I can confirm that Tottenham tried to explore that possibility when the deal wasn’t closed with Barcelona,” Romano said.

Hard to compete
Tottenham may well have wanted to sign Roque, but, let’s be honest, they were never going to truly compete with Barcelona, were they?

With all due respect, these two clubs are in two different stratospheres. Barcelona are the reigning champions of Spain, arguably the biggest club on the planet and one of the favourites for next season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, Tottenham finished eighth in England last season, haven’t won a trophy in 16 years and have no European football next term.

Who would you rather join as a 19-year-old striker?

The sad reality for Tottenham is that they can’t compete for these types of signings at the moment, and they may have to fish in slightly different waters until they’re back on track.

Does anyone actually believe this happened?
