Poppycock. I've never really understood this line of thinking. Not as though the Kane saga has been kept under wraps. Not like any club thinks we're buying a striker if Kane is staying. Not like any club thinks we have the leverage to keep Kane.I don’t know, it still feels like a classic diversion tactic from Montpellier trying to get Chelsea (the club with long-standing interest) to pay up.
One positive though - if there is a time to buy a striker this summer, it is now. Because if Kane does go as most expect him to, once that cheque from Bayern clears, suddenly the price on every transfer target will go up an extra £20m. You don’t want to leave all your business until after you get the influx of cash.
