I think a lot of surplus’s players will go , but while the window is still open for a while yet I can’t see a fire sale, surely the sensible thing to do is to pimp them out first and gauge the interest , then towards the end of the window take the best offer you can ?

Problem is I think Ndombele, Lo Celso, Reguilon and co were pimped out last summer and maybe summer before without much interest, hence the loans last season.

Terminating contracts is not a terribly attractive option either - if Ndombele is on 200k pw (£10m pa) with 2 years left on his contract, terminating could cost up to £20m.

That can’t be right? I don’t recall us selling so many players these years.

This is it. This is why this club is so frustrating.

Years of frugality have allowed is to build up more FFP allowance to exploit each transfer window than any other Premier League club, ever, yet we constantly refuse to use this luxury to benefit the team, address glaring deficiencies, and back which ever manager is currently in post and give him the right tools to work with.

What's the point? What's it all about?

It's hardly surprising no manager has seen out a full season for half a decade when you think about it.
You have to wonder, like with the naming rights, they are keeping that FFP headroom available to make us a more attractive takeover target.

Qatar could come in, name the stadium what they want and then splurge a load of cash as we have the headroom.

Medical done with Blackburn consent when fee was £3m ish, but asking price has suddenly trebled to £9.5m ......... which nobody is going to pay for the just 18 year old.

Blackburn need any cash they can get, so just a question when they agree a fee which is fair all round
Not sure if it was confirmed but there was somebody on the Blackburn forum a while ago saying there was an agreement that he was allowed to talk to other clubs if an offer of 2-3m came in but the wording was such that Blackburn didn't have to actually accept that fee

Serious question: is football a scam?

Fabinho is the definition of legs have gone… he runs like Joe Biden walks.

How have we not managed to shift one dead wood to Saudi? Our owners just aren’t in the club are they? It’s why we get skanked by officials and fixtures every season. Same reason Kane is suddenly “the greatest prem striker ever” AFTER he’s leaving.

Levy backing Poch and quickly moving on Kaboul, Bayor etc was one of the most impactful actions he’s ever taken

True.

But backing the same manager didn't always work.

After Trippier had been sold, he revealed that he had been carrying a minor injury/sprain for almost the whole season, but Poch had not allowed him to rest.

Been better had Poch been told to rest him and play someone else for a month or two, that way we might have saved over £120m and only now consider selling Trippier (who has since excelled at Atletico and Newcastle). I'm not sure we would have done any worse.

Our deadwood is hardly high in stock, is it?

Rovers have been forced to cut their budget after the new tax laws were implemented in India. The changes have raised tax on overseas investments from five to 20 per cent.

As a result, Rovers have been forced to cut their cloth across the club and haven't made any new additions for a month.

"It is a totally different situation from when I started the project, which was a great project and we need to be totally different about it. The ambitions need to change a lot with a different budget at the moment.

"We lost Dack and Brereton Diaz, two great players, 23 goals. We lost experience with Daniel Ayala, these are all kids that want to learn but it's a young team.

"We saw last season where it was really important and we had a great season, it was terrible not to have a senior striker when it was all about winning and getting a goal in the end. Now the situation is probably even worse but that is the situation.

When asked if he had been given any insurance about new signings this window, he replied: "No. I don't know. I feel terrible not to be able to say anything. Imagine how the supporters are feeling.

Asked about his future, he added: "I think it's an unclear situation. I signed up for a project and that project has changed.

"The goalposts have moved when you change the budgets and the ambition should also change in that way. For me, we can't keep the fans in the dark but we need to be honest."

The clause has never been disclosed in public, but it was clearly intended to be a 'release' clause but once lawyers have been involved its become apparent that the clause could be taken to mean several things.

Having a clause saying 'Blackburn allow talks if an offer of £2m-3m comes in' suggests they would sell at that level. However they seem now to have back with requiring the offer of £2m - 3m plus add ons adding up to about £9.5ma - after agreeing a medical could take place (usually only done once commercial fee agreed).

Strong suggestion that maybe Blackburn owners suddenly got involved at 11th hour as not only did the add ons appear but also a hastily released statement saying the owners were giving Blackburn a big new sponsorship deal (Blackburn fans don't think this amounts much more than covering operating costs so are not that impressed)

I mean I don't know the whole list of players who have gone there but they appear to be looking for quality, that's why the only offer that has come our way is for Son.

Blackburn Rovers are yet to agree a fee with Tottenham Hotspur for defender Ash Phillips.

The 18-year-old travelled to London last week for talks ahead of a proposed move. Phillips has a £2million release clause in his contract which the North London side triggered.

Lancs Live reported last week that Rovers believe they could take advantage of a loophole which would enable them to negotiate a better fee for the England youth international. As a result, he returned to Brockhall this week and has trained with Rovers.

Jon Dahl Tomasson still believes Phillips will go but confirmed no fee he has been agreed. He won't be involved in Rovers' final pre-season match against Girona on Saturday.

“The chances are big that the boy will probably be going to a good side," Tomasson told Lancs Live. "He is a great player, he will have a great future. But there is not an agreement at the moment.
