Plan B

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So I don't think anyone can disagree that since AVB has managed the team, we look more solid but play a slow and languid possession game. When this doesn't work, he throws on another short striker and plays a slow and languid possession game.

It's about time we developed a plan B. What style or formation would work best when up against a ten man defence? Suggestions please....

My suggestion would be to get a world class midfield pass ticker like Modric, who keeps the ball moving quicker and dictates the pace, pinging balls about confidently and progressively at a varied pace. I would also add a strong, powerful Ox of a man upfront with clinical finishing, thunderous in the air and hard enough to hold his ground against the strongest centre backs not just a donkey. This would make us complete as a squad!

I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller

We can wish and speculate all we want, doesn't mean things will happen. We have what we have until January whats the point of making these threads over and over again? Keep it in the transfer window threads.

No doubt we should just pop down to the World Class Midfielder Supermarket in January and see what cut prices bargains may be on offer.

As for no Plan B, that's bollocks. Mr. Harry "if my team wins I'll play the same 11 players every week" Redknapp was the man with no Plan B. AVB changed it twice on Sunday, especially when his first change didn't work. He is working on a style of play that involves building a strong defense and then attacking. As a result there will be consistency of style in many games. But we aren't seeing the same players picked every week and, with being three points off the top, I am not seeing any great level of failure. My one and only criticism would be his rigid adherence to playing one striker up from. But that is a formation issue and not one of lack of Plan B.

Anyhow, can I just say how fond I am of Al Pacino gangsters. :)

Once in high school I had to buy Plan B (aka the day after pill) for my friend because you have to be 18 to purchase it and he was a couple weeks short.

We would drive to school together so on Sunday night he calls me and says, "I need you to pick me up early tomorrow I need you to do a favor for me". I obviously ask him what it is but he is being all weird about it and won't tell me. I pick him up the next morning and he finally tells what he needs. He somehow managed to put a condom on inside out which to this day I don't even know how it's possible and it it broke.

Now we go to the drug store that's right by my house and I'm mortified I'm going to see one of my parents friends or someone I know. I go up to the pharmacist and ask, "can I have some plan B, please". She is clearly taken off guard and then just gives me the bitchiest and most judgmental look possible.

At this point I'm thinking fuck you lady. It is 7:30 AM on a Monday morning, I'm in this awful situation, and now I have this woman judging me totally unfairly. In response, I just look her directly in eyes and say "crazy weekend you know?". She scurried away faster to get the plan B than anyone I've ever seen.

Oh sorry, didn't realize this was about football.

Condom on inside out?

He did know if he was coming or going

As for the OP's idea for a Plan B, I'd still like to see us bring in Burak Yilmaz. His style would completely change any side we brought him into from our current options up top. Third in CL scoring last year behind only Ronaldo and Lewandowski (who progressed another three rounds between them), find it pretty surprising more teams aren't having a go at his signature.

According to some Galatasary fans, he's really not good. Which would explain why more teams don't want him. He's pretty similar to Soldado too from what I've seen of him, maybe just a little taller. I don't think he'd really bring anything to the team.

I don't even think striker is our problem here. There's only so much he can do with 10 men covering him in the box. Look at Barcelona vs Chelsea in the CL a couple years ago. Messi and his team couldn't do anything and they were by far the best team in the world at the time. Its not easy to open up a team when they park the bus like teams have been doing against us. We can't just expect to roll over teams when they do that. Man U have world class strikers, and a world class deep lying playmaker in Carrick and they are having as much trouble as us at times.

People act like we should be able to just walk through teams 3-0 but that just isn't realistic. The fact is that teams now consider us to be a dangerous team and they now park the bus because of it. It wasn't like that in the past. They won't come out and attack us like they used to because they know they won't win. As a result, we can't play the same football that we did in the past. The fact that we are able to win these games at all is a good sign. The longer teams play us like this, the better we'll get at breaking it down.

As for AVBs plan B, plan A was he started off with inverted wingers, plan B was that he changed to traditional wingers like some called for, plan C was that brought on Dembele for Sandro for more attack, plan D was that he brought on Eriksen, Plan E was that he switched to two strikers. He did everything he could. Give credit to Hull for playing so well on the defensive side.

Plan A is to keep the match at 0-0 until half time.......if we score it's a bonus

Plan B is to increase the pressure in the second half and create enough chances to win the game late on.

I'm not sure why people haven't realised this.....

I think realising it is one thing - being comfortable with it is another.

All I want is for people to treat the first half of the game as a write off and sing for the team during that time.

And then for them to do that again with the second half.

We'll win everything.

Interesting, especially considering how many goals he scored for Gala in league play I must admit I find this surprising. And if transfermarkt and wiki are to be believed, he's a full four inches taller than Soldado. If you watch any of his highlights, he scores far more goals from the air than Soldado does.

We should just concede loads and let the opponent have all the possession. When they've beat us safe and sound are lulled into false sense of security we'd go and win the second leg using throw-ins.

WE'D WIN THE LEAGUE!
