No idea. Can't say I've ever heard of him outside of the few on here that recommend him.

Seems like the type of signing Brighton or Brentford or someone would make who'd come in and get double digit goals and people will be like "they've done it again"

But knowing our toxic fanbase he'd be berated the moment he got here.

"we've give from Kane to this?"
"Never done it in a top league"

Etc etc.

Maybe we should stick to big money 60m striker signings to show ambition.
Fuck those guys they will moan about any player we sign.

They are already bitching about Vicarrio before he’s played a game.

Bitch about Levy, it’s deserved. Not players that just arrived.

Devine leaving would mean :

Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Skipp, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Ndombele for 3 positions.

Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Bentancur and Skipp are guaranteed to stay. So can definitely see one of the other three leaving.

Does this say as much about the defending in the league as it does about the quality of these strikers?

Likely.

For every Osimhen, you get a Batshuayi.

Hard to judge players in that league on goals alone. They've got to have something more. And naturally the next step after the Belgian league should typically be the French League or something similar.

Do we really need defenders? We have this misconception that you need to play with Defenders, but as Ange has said Football is about scoring goals, why have 4 defenders when you could have extra attackers instead?
Its bad enough losing 1 player in the sticks without sacrificing 5 in your own half for most of the game, Im fully looking forward to this season where we play a very attacking 1 , 0 , 5, 5 Formation! :ange-arms:
Ossie Ardiles was always ahead of his time.

I would disagree with this.

We’ve know for how long that we’ve needed to replace Lloris.
If Raya was identified as the first choice, in such a key position, where he could be our keeper for 10 years, suits the style of our new manager to a tee and has genuine, proven quality, then is 40 million really that excessive in todays market?

In one of Pochettino’s best describing quotes re our transfer policy “we cannot keep trying to be clever in the market and expecting success”
That quote from Poch never made sense. Are we to be stupid in the market to achieve success?

We're currently being pretty stupid where our CB recruitment is concerned...

We're going to win everything now!!!

40m for a goalkeeper with one year left on his contract is most definitely excessive.

Again, Raya is the quintessential Levy signing. One year left on his deal, Prem proven, HG and should have realistically been pretty cheap. It's just that Brentford overpriced him and we didn't want to get fleeced.

Raya and Maddison are pure Levy signings. Both had all the same hall marks. Except one was actually worth what he was priced at.

Vicario, going off what Ange wants in a goalkeeper, looks more of a realistic fit anyway. And considering Anges positive words on Vicario's hard work to get where he's got, tells me all I need to know on what Ange wants from a personality standpoint in his players.

I just find it hilarious that if we were after say, Onana but got quoted 40m and said no to it only to go and sign Raya, who has one year left on his deal, for 15m, the club STILL would have got pelters.

It's not about the goalkeeper or their ability. It's about a fanbase point scoring over fees and supposed ambition. I remember "just pay the fee" when it came to Porro. It was never a about ability. Because it was people who'd never seen Porro play. The same people now crucifying him for not being a good enough defender.
Is it though? If he was our first choice target in such a pivotal position, 40 million is not that excessive in todays market.

If, for example, we were approaching the transfer from Woolwich’s position, whereby they want him as competition for their current number 1, then absolutely 40 million is excessive and I would expect us to walk away in such circumstance.

Also, the Onana point is moot. Whilst I believe we should have been in the market for a goalkeeper of his quality, we weren’t, so it’s a pointless argument.

With regard to the Porro situation, Porro would have been an outstanding signing if we had got him in the Summer instead of Spence for example. He’s a top class wing back talent who could have thrived in a fully functioning Conte system.
Alas, we signed him in a panic when everything had already gone to shit.

Taking that bit aside, you going to answer his not unreasonable question?
It's both unreasonable and a silly question.

Am i going to criticise his performance if he drops a clanger and has a poor performance = yes

Am i going to criticise if he performs poorly for a sustained period = yes

asking people on a football forum if they're gonna "shit on" a player if he doesn't play well? does critcising constitute as shitting on?

dumb question that's made even worse by the internet gangsterism added to it.
