See, this video doesn’t really change the perception of him at all. What is it, 90% sliding challenges or making interceptions on the run? Almost all of that defending is in space or on the run chasing attackers to the byline.

He’s got these long legs and he is definitely good in space due to his speed. No one’s denying that, least of all me, I’ve been consistent about his profile including those gifts. It also shows why he’s best suited for LCB in a Back 3 which is not what Ange plays.

But in small spaces he stands off more often than not and you’ll notice that it doesn’t show any of him tracking runners, being aerially dominant, etc.

Potential, sure. But people who think he’s going to come in and transform our defense are delusional.
There's not one poster on here who's made that claim, not one. In fact, the majority feel he's a project. I'm of the same opinion.

I didn't post the video to prove you wrong, I posted it to show that you can pick just about any YouTube video to show whatever you need to bolster an argument. They're as inconclusive as just reading stats in isolation. You could cherry pick videos of the greatest defenders in the World that shows them standing off, indecisive or embarrassingly poor.

All of this is just random fan chatter anyway. Whilst I respect your attention to detail in your own analysis, you're raising 'red flags' on a kid with one season of professional Football under his belt, in a position where most are aware that maturity in the role usually occurs in their late 20's.

Valid if we're planning on having him as a starter, but not if we plan to develop him into the player he promises to be.

It's a very confusion situation. What possibilities are there that would explain Levy's actions to this point, given all that you state?

The only guess I can make is - just like with every managerial appointment since Poch - Levy generally believes the current side can be good enough with a few tweaks, and that he mainly needs to find a manager who can get more out of the players already here.

They were talking of extending Dier and Davies just last season, and have made no effort to strengthen the defense. We've got players hanging round who don't fit and don't want to be here. There aren't many coherent explanations left.

Does Levy think that changing the manager and adding Maddison is all it will take to get him to 4th place?

Or does he think the squad can get 4th even without Kane, with the proper manager?

If he doesn't even aspire to 4th, that's a whole other set of problems.
That is the problem. He shouldn't be thinking or doing anything and leaving it to those who are paid to look after the football side and give them as much funding as possible.

His job is to promote the club and as make as much money to feed the football side.

Do you think Man C would have as successful if they had Levy running the club?

No, because Levy hasn't got a clue and would interfere too much.

Could say that, or you could say the ones who live in the real world instead of a constant dream state where top 4 is perpetually on, Kane is staying and a change of manager fixes everything.

Who knows though. We’ll soon find out.
Which of the two is broken though? Your own words.

I'd have a serious think about 'real World' though if a lack of trophies is enough to break you.

Maybe they made us olduns out of stronger material, kinda like furniture. The older you are, the more likely you're made out of Oak. The younger you are, the more likely you're made out of chip board.

Or don’t loan Devine and move on Perisic - throw the 12M saving in wages to Leverkusen for Tapsoba
I really don't like the idea of keeping Devine on the bench as a backup for a position where he doesn't even normally play, in a season without European footballer. He's very talented, and we need to develop his talent by finding him a good loan where he'll play every week.

The club is broken, on a number of levels. I'm not going to go in to it in-depth in this thread because people aren't interested, and I feel like its been done to death in the Levy/ENIC thread. Safe to say lack of trophies is far from the only factor in the sense of "brokenness".

As for stronger material the "broken us" comment was in jest. If I was that soft I wouldn't be able to turn up for work.

Why? We have Solomon, Son, who can play on the left.

We don't need Perisic, he is 34, we need to be bringing through younger players for the future like Devine.

Ange wants wide players that can go 1v1, ideally both directions and even better if they can play either side.

Looks like Son and Solomon are the only players we have that can play either wing but both better off from the left.

Kulu is the only one that plays off the right if Perisic goes.
