Not a single mention of Dier!
Apart from his own stated intention of staying, I think people will be disappointed on this one. Get the pitchforks ready, because personally I want him to stay, depending on other outgoings.
It was great fun seeing Lampard cry about how the standards at Chelsea had dropped to the point of disappearing. But there's truth to it, beyond Lampard's incompetence. You can't just throw 25 players in a group and expect good stuff, regardless of talent on paper.
Hugo and Sanchez are as good as gone. If Perisic, PEH, and Kane leave, then we're down to bare bones in terms of players who have been with the club at first team level for more than a couple of years (or in Perisic's case a proven track record at the very top end). Basically Davies and Son outside of Dier. Those two are lovely lads, but doesn't strike as ready to give anyone a real kick up the backside.
End of the day, it's still just a group of young men, and you need someone, in fact a few, to set the tone within the group. Even more so when a new manager comes in.
Unless there's very good reason in terms of what we can bring in instead, I would much prefer that at least two out of Dier, Perisic and PEH stay, before having a look at the squad next summer.
