To further expand on my point that us with Kane is more optimistic than without.

With Kane, in a system that generates 30 shots at goal a game, he's going to score another 30+ goals. That is good for him and it's good for us.
If our defence is finally sorted, we'll score more and concede less.
If we score more and concede less, we will do better. Maybe top 4 better. With no Europe, we can put strong sides out in the domestic cups too.
Top 4 and a cup isn't totally out of the question if Ange is the real deal.
I have no doubt that if that happened, Kane would rather sign a new contract with Spurs and finish his career here than leave for some one he has no affinity with.
I also believe the positivity around THFC with Kane in the side elevates everyone bar maybe Richarlison.

You take him out and we start strggling to put those chances away amd watch it turn negative quickly.
30 shots yesterday, 20 on target and Kane scored 80% of our goals. Son, 80 minutes, nothing. Kulu, 90 minutes couple? of assists no goals. No one other than Kane really looked like scoring until Devine hits an unstoppable shot.

People keep saying "what about the £100m
A) Bayern haven't offered us £100m. At best they've offered £100m over x amount of years and subject to criteria being met. Maybe that's worth less to us in the next year or two than Kane smashing another 30+ goals in?

If there was a 22-23 year old proven goal machine ready and willing to sign for us, then maybe take the money and replace. But there isn't.

From Prof on COYS about 15 minutes before the bid being rejected hitting the news. The shorter contract is what I reckon will happen and suggested it a few weeks ago as the best move for everyone.

A mixture of info from Gawain and a new source.

We have put two contract options in front of Harry and his reps.
A long term incentive laden contract to remove the uncertainty for us and for him. Barring significant injury he’d break Shearer’s record and pretty much retire as a Spurs player.
A mid-range contract with buyout clause that would put us in a similar position next summer as we are this summer. This option would give us at least another year of Harry, and give him time to decide whether he’s buying in to our future under Ange, as well as setting a minimum sale price.

No idea if he’ll negotiate a bit and then sign one of them, sign neither and leave on a free next summer, or be sold before this window closes. DL wants a decision asap so Spurs know how much they’ll have to spend and which positions they’ll need to focus on for the remainder of the window.

This week provides much for both HK and DL to ponder.
There’s nothing like an ‘ITK’ covering every base …… and then some! 😂

I guess I was wrong, I have no clue how the CL works anymore now that UEFA have truly fucked it up.

I don't consider the LC an actual trophy, it shouldn't exist.

Bloke said LC or Caraboa (by which I assume he actually meant FAC or Caraboa).....

Yes, a boost from the PL money is nice.

Harry isn't signing a new deal. Even if he thinks he might consider it right now, it's because he hasn't had the chance to see the river of gold the Saudis will slap down in front of him come January when they can start negotiations. Which will become a massive distraction in the 2nd half of the season and probably end up torpedoing any CL qualification.

A trophy and a club on the rise could quite easily motivate Kane to stay.

.......It's obv. moot rhetoric though cos you can't offer me these things in advance. 👍

hmmmm

I don't think Johnson is that good and think we can get better but what exactly has Gil done with us? the guy puts in 1 decent cross and some go on like he's the second coming of Messi.

Johnson productivity wise is on another planet. He has unbelievable pace and his finishing is Insanely good.

I would prefer a player with better dribbling and someone that can carry the ball rather then run into spaces to be targeted but comparing Johnson to Gil is laughable.
He hasn't even put in a decent cross, he passed the ball about 5 feet on the ground to Kane, who did all the work himself to score.

My whole thing is we need to shift the deadwood. If Forest actually want Spence then there’s a deal to be done. I don’t really care where they go just need them off the books.

You're now raising a completely different point...... The OG contention was that spending 30m under some illusion of desperation to sell Spence is false economy,

I agree about keeping Kane.

Scarlett scored the goal though and your jabs at Son and Kulu are pointless.

Scarlett replaced Kane for the end of the game and scored. It means the system works. Kane elevates it but his replacement would get goals too.

Bayern fans are hysterical and distraught

I don't think like that, at all. A LC doesn't prove we're "on the rise", wouldn't give anyone a reason to believe we're closer to overturning the growing City monopoly.

It probably makes Harry feel even more comfortable leaving - he did it, he won us a "trophy", likely the only "trophy" we can realistically expect to compete for. Why the fuck would he sign on just to fall back to earth? Especially when the Saudis are offering him a different Rolls for each day of the week and enough money to go full Scrooge McDuck.

Have to say there's been a lot of knicker (85-100 £s/€s) twisting over H's future and it is destined to continue until he leaves or stays.

Cannot see where all the angst is coming from really, it can work out well enough for us in both scenarios so I guess all the drama is being caused by whichever side thinks they are right and knows (thinks) which option is best for the Club.

I could live with both, if he stays and decides to leave on a free at end of the season then so be it he's earned it and I will save my good wishes when I know his final destination. If he leaves this TW then we will benefit financially and be fairly confident the amount brought in will be used for new blood though we will never be able to ascertain if the net outlay was increased exponentially by this windfall.

Prof? More like Kid who will never leave his mothers house.

"So we're still negotiating after we allegedly told them it's our final offer. They called our bluff, they even missed the deadline if we gave them one, and meanwhile Levy's still on holiday. They've really made us their bitches."

Will suit Ange and visa-versa.

I'd suggest you might be underestimating CL money as the extra matches gives us both ticket money plus food and drink (and even food and drink will be £1m+ per match).

I'm just citing the guaranteed income, that's all.... Of course additional income furthers my point though.

Additionally a number of sponsors give extra money for CL appearances - but I'm not sure anyone has the knowledge outside Spurs to estimate what that is.

Plus we might pick up additional sponsor/commercial income that we wouldn't otherwise get.

All good. :)

It was the most obvious bluff in the World though. Even we could see it a mile away who have limited information regarding the transfers, let alone the club.
