Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It’s going to be pretty rough on ol’ baldy (and the club) if Kane rejects Bayern, costs him €100m, stays then leaves on a free next season.

Gonna be a painful one.

What would be really lovely would be for the owners to use the unparalleled £400million+ FFP leeway they've built up through years of austerity and convince Harry Kane his future lies with Spurs
This is the crux of the whole situation isn't it. With Sheringham, Carrick, Berbatov, Keane, modric , Bale, you can understand why they went, because the club couldn't offer, wages etc etc...........but this is what hurts with Harry, this could have been avoided, if wasn't one bad decision after another over the past five years. We've given Harry nothing remotely to cling onto. We can't even offer him any European football, let alone CL.
The best he could hope for in his remaining few seasons is the league Cup.
This is solely down to levy, this bastard caused this and expects fans to just pay their money and accept it.

This is tiresome. The man has sealed his legacy at the club if he never plays another day. I love the guy. We all do.

But this "what is Harry doing?" saga every season is old. Especially with the indecisive dopes in ownership we have, it just continues to compound. Just make a decision and sign it. Let's be on our way. Granted, probably to the bottom half of the table, but at least this isn't hanging over our heads every season.

I'm here for the football, not Coronation Street or EastEnders.

This!

I can see a few reasons why Kane may be considering staying..,

Impressed with Ange
Family settled
Loves the club (he does!)
Out of contract next season so pick of clubs.

If I’m Kane, I’d be saying to Levy right now…look admit the club has been a shit mess last few years. I like Ange, love being here, but I need to see you backing the club with investment and a real positive direction of travel or I’m gone next season.

. For those who care about the money, it’s levy we dealing with there is no guarantee he is gonna invest back in the club they have money in any case that’s how I feel about the situation.

I tend to agree with you. It seems a lot of posters think that getting £90m for Kane will improve us because the money will be reinvested BUT history shows that 90m buys you Ndombele and Sanchez or Porro and Richarlison. We could name other pairings.
We sold Walker for 50m and spent all that and more trying to replace him on players who turned out to be junk.
I’d much rather have Kane for one more season and attempt to win a trophy, finish up the league as high as possible.

If this is all about Harry wanting to stay but signalling to the club that they shouldn't take him for granted, and need to improve/invest then I will love that man as much as a heterosexual man can.

This is all such backwards logic.

Everyone was jerking themselves off with the notion of rebuilding, and now are evincing precisely zero understanding of what that means.

Ange building his entire operation around a unique, irreplaceable talisman who is going to walk on a free in 12 months time is not a benefit to Ange, that's completely baby-brained reasoning.

We aren't trying to win anything this season. That's not the point. Bedding in new ideas is the point.
No, it isn't baby-brained reasoning.

We have a whole season to scout a suitable replacement and other targets that will soften the blow of him leaving when he eventually does, even if he goes on a free, they will just have to dig into their pockets and find the money won't they?

The only reason he leaves on a free is down to poor forward thinking from the ownership anyway so they only have themselves to blame for this imo.

A rebuild won't mean a thing if all hope is wiped from the manager and players before a ball is even kicked and we end up having a shit season because of it and the manager ends up getting the sack (which is always possible with Levy.)

I think Kane being sold 3 days before the first game would be so disheartening it would have wider implications on the mentality of the squad, manager and supporters is what I am basically saying.

Yeah, not sure this passes muster. Always leaving? You got some betting receipts to show us? This Bayern deal caught everyone by surprise when it surfaces...it was always ManU and then the deal was too rich. I think it's a stretch to say this now.

Again, if this situation happened to ANY other club (let alone Arse, WHam, or Chels) the peanut gallery on this board would be wanking themselves silly it is such a fucking catastrophe. And the oft-injury, goal shy Brazilian as the replacement? My god we would lose some of our older member to MIs.

Yeah, not having it.

gotcha...but it's still feels pretty sound. Losing your best player that just scored 4 goals to see you past a pub team is not great. And Richy doesn't inspire...and no one can see 30 additional goals between Sonny, richy, and Kulu to make up Sir Harold's loss. I mean, it's fucking Harry Kane!

Ok, but like was said earlier, this isn't the last day of the windown so presumably ANY final day of negotiaton could have been chosen. Many teams do this so as not to disturb the upcoming season. Remember BVB announcing the Sancho date and then sticking to it? How about Soton to Liverpool? This is how it is done at most well-run clubs.

The will he or won't he is stupid and intentional...it keeps us in the news as much as alters leverage. The particulars of this deal were known weeks ago...this allow DL to get opportunistic buys AND protects him fromt he fury of the fans because the anger will not have time to build because the games are back.

All might change if we get 2 from 8...here's hoping!
I did always think he was going. Stayed behind at the lap of dishonour to see him off last season. Things flip and flop but the dispassionate view was always sign a new deal or sell, although it did look at one point that no one was going to offer the cash.

I'm not saying Richy is a good replacement, I don't think it will work, but the fact that he was always the planned replacement means it doesn't really matter when we sold Kane. The replacement was already here and training, we were just trying to maximise the earnings on the deal.

I would guess the changing news today is just Kane trying to get good PR by saying it was hard to leave his boyhood club etc etc. He could have said he was staying months ago if that was what he wanted

No no no no...it's Bayern's fault because they're so big and rich they've kicked us around on the playground and stolen our best friend Harold. And there was NOTHING we could do about it!

There's been like 7 years that this could have happened and if it did then Harry would probably be signed already for the rest of his career. Instead, he looks like heading for Oktoberfest. Must be a problem with Harry and Bayern and definitely nothing we did...or didn't do.

Just throw the kitchen sink at him. Double his wages, generous add ons but also a release clause that does kick in if certain targets aren't met.

If Kane is hesitant. That tells you something.
