We might get good news, terms agreed etc., maybe even a here we go, but we won't get any official announcements from the club.

If we get Orban or a similar profile young striker and another top CB I won't be too gutted with the window, no one can really say what Richy could achieve if he was our no. 9 and playing 90 min week in week out, if he was getting double figures from wide left in a really really shit Everton there's nothing to say he can't get 20+ for us. Most of our first team aren't as bad as last season made them look, if Richy has a shit year I will accept he's a flop and we need to cut oour losses, but anyone completely writing him off is just as much of a mug as the people wanting to give him a chance. He meant that in the context of no new signings would impact his squad before Sunday so he has clarity in that sense.

That doesn't stop moves from advancing in the interim. I'd be surprised if a strong link doesn't emerge this weekend.

I'm all for giving Richarlison a chance. It's a gamble no matter what we do so we might as well have a punt on players we've already got.

I'd rather we invested the Kane money on sound defensive players to reduce the amount of goals we concede. Richie and Son should be good for 20 goals a piece in a Postecoglou system, other players will chip in as well and we should be good for a return to free-scoring, Martin Jol era football.
