Or maybe he's already frustrated that all his dross is still here and he's been told they have to go. Wages off the bill, fees in the door.
Watch him get frustrated when these dossers let him down week after week

You're not wrong, but perhaps a pre-season isn't entirely enough to know what he wanted in terms of sales from the squad.

Last time we had a manager who was here for a project, it wasn't until the end of his first season that we managed to offload a lot of the players he didn't want - and we did in a big way.

At the end of Pochs firsts season we sold

Paulinho
Holtby
Caopue
Lennon
Soldado
Kaboul
Townsend
Adebayor
Cellabos
Chiriches
Stambouli

We are very attractive club for players to choose. We are in London a very attractive city for players to come too. We pay well. We have been in the Champions League numerous times even reaching the final in 2019. I do not think it is a surprise that Maddison chose to live in London over Newcastle at one of the largest best supported clubs in the world.

I am starting to wonder if you are troll or you do not understand how big a club that you support is. No Player would choose to go live in Newcastle over Spurs if the conditions were equal and even slightly unequal positions they would still choose us.
England isn't a very big place. Most players don't live in London, they live outside, where it's nice. The training ground is at the very northern limit of London. We only play half our games in our part of London.

I don't think it's as big a deal just being in London, as it is to have a club that actually wins things, spends money and pays wages.
That's Chelsea, that's not us.

Could it be a concoction of incompetence coupled with ENIC resting on their laurels as we’ve now moved into the new money printing machine stadium which means they no longer have to put in as much effort for one field success? (Not that there was ever any major effort from them, but there is an argument to be made that is has indeed decreased in recent seasons)
I would say you've pretty much nailed it there, Tom.

Completion of their Multi Sports and entertainment complex (with the football club footing the bill) was mission accomplished.

All they need to do is to fill the place with punters every week...paying the highest prices on planet earth, and they're happy.

I think our transfer strategy.... and unwillingness to match the ambition of former managers and star players is testament to this, unfortunately .

You have to laugh when you compare Chelsea’s outgoings to our own. They had a toxic squad last season, many players downed tools yet Chelsea have managed to get rid of circa 10 players for over a combined £200m.

Whereas Spurs have a number of poor to average players who we can’t give away. To make it worse, transfer fees have rocketed this summer yet we’re still not getting any/many takers for players whom in the current market are cheap.

I know our squad is bloated but it shouldn’t be used as an excuse when we’ve in effect:

1 fit for purpose GK, RB, LB
2 fit for purpose CB
Light of quality in CM (especially if Hojbjerg goes)
No pace on the wings
1 player pretending to be a striker

A couple of injuries and despite having a bloated squad, we’re knackered.

If my mrs was venting to me about something I was doing, as long as it wasn't her being mental, I'd change what i was doing.
Sadly that sentiment isn't reciprocated in our house.
As for this place, instead of telling people who vent to stop because you don't like it, how about you stop reading and replying?
Cause they don't like your responses at least as much as you don't like their comments.

I didn't tell anyone not to vent I simply said that after a certain period of time, there might be something more productive they could do with their frustration.

If not then fair enough, but there should be absolutely nothing wrong with me suggesting that.

Pre season was a disaster. IMO, any new coach should be getting at LEAST half a dozen games before the kick off.
I miss the days of domestic friendlies. Now where near as profitable but at least gave coaches time to look at players instead of sitting on planes and recovering from jet lag.

Completely agree and Pep even said the same.

A huge problem with football nowadays.

Links to Davinson, cool.

No... Not "cool" at all.

Chap above wants to blather about "gaslighting"..... You've been gaslighting me for days over this shit.

EDit: What did he say about seeing more movement in? you have made that up.

Nah, fuck off (frankly):

From a quote TODAY:

"I'm sure you'll see some movement. "

......And he said similar regarding further players on Sunday.

You also denied this concept previously:

"It's not so much one has to happen for the other (outgoings and incomings), but our focus for the moment is to try and trim the squad down and see where that takes us in terms of reinforcements.:

Everyone should be able to vent. But lets also try and turn this on it's head a bit.

Do you have a partner or a close friend?

What would you say to them if they were constantly venting about the same thing relentlessly for weeks to you?

Surely at some point you would think it was appropriate to say hey, look, I get what you are frustrated about and it IS frustrating, but the venting clearly doesn't make you feel better and perhaps it would be a good idea to figure out how to get from how you are feeling now to what would make you feel better about the situation? Changing the narrative and putting in some positive actions might give you a better perspective.

It wasn't quite as bad as "a disaster". That's a bit dramatic

The Leicester and Roma games being removed from the schedule was frustrating but I reckon Ange spending the majority of pre-season on the training ground with the players instead of doing some massive tour full of plane journeys was probably a positive and probably a big reason as to why the players have likely taken to the system as quickly as they have.

Man Utd played 8 games in pre-season. Double the amount we did. Yet one week they were in Norway, the next their in Scotland, then they were in America, then in Ireland. And they looked shocking against Wolves.

The people that run this business are totally incompetent when it comes to running a football club.

He's very clearly talking about movement out.

Duck walks into a bar and asks "Got any bread?"

Barman says: "No."

Barman says: "No."

Duck says: "Got any bread?"

Barman says: "No, we have no bread."

Duck says: "Got any bread?"

Barman says: "No, we haven't got any fucking bread."

Duck says: "Got any bread?"

Barman says: "No, are you deaf?! We haven't got any fucking bread, ask me again and I'll nail your fucking beak to the bar you irritating bastard of a bird!"

Duck says: "Got any nails?"

Barman says: "No"

ignoring for a moment whether the ITK is real, you got think we have some of the worse players in football in the squad with the trouble it is to find clubs for them. tanguy ,dier and reggie are just going to see out his contract here no doubt, be it deep in the reserves or on loan somewhere else were we pay the majority of their wage
The problem is the money spinning in English football. Overinflated prices and enormous wages!!

Hardly no other countries(bar the Saudi) can afford it! We ourselves are pricing out our own players to other Leagues more or less

Almost every big league outside the Prem are in big problems economically!

Maybe it's time to put a wage cap in world football, because we are killing our beautiful game as it is.

There weren't enough games to really run through the squad and decide.
We also played Kane in a half of every game despite knowing he wanted out.

United played twice as many games despite not having a new coach who doesn't known his squad and not having a desperate need to get 6-10 players out.

Poch getting Levy to sell a bunch of players at a loss after his first season (the refusal to do so having been a huge problem for years prior) was the watershed moment of his tenure. That's when it became his show, his project.

It was more about culture and attitude with those guys than inability to play Poch's football though, I'd say. As it pertains to the current moment, we've got guys on the transfer list that just don't have anything to offer Angeball.

"We can't just keep acquiring players. It's not so much one has to happen for the other (outgoings and incomings), but our focus for the moment is to try and trim the squad down and see where that takes us in terms of reinforcements. "
It sounds to me that trimming the squad down has taken the highest priority which again is not an issue that any serious club should want to be facing with only 2 weeks to go in the window.

I will judge the success at the end of course. But right now it very much seems we are looking to sell before buying (obviously we don’t need to, but we prefer to)

Whatever at this point. No one knows exactly what’s going on behind the scenes but we do know exactly what is going on in terms of done deals, and it’s absolutely fuck all, a week into the post Kane era.

Fuck that shit.... You don't get to melt and cry about "gaslighting" and then trot out this crap.

Rewind and accept that to your own admission you don't "know "shit then fair enough; but leave it at that.

And what’s more it’s been the same story nearly every window since the early 2010s.

Balls. I suggest you check the exits in 2014/15, 2015/2016 & 2021/22.

Levy wields the axe and clears the deck when he (AND THE MANAGER) sees fit. Even as late as last Jan, he was prepared to send both Spence & Doh out on loan in order to spend 45m on Porro.

IF in 2 weeks time we don't shift any more players and it results in no more sigings then you have a cause to cry....

In the meantime, keep you knickers dry for fucks sake.......... You're not gonna get some massive life improvement from Tanganga being sold for a few million or Reg going back out on loan FFS.... Nor is it gonna mean that we get Osimehn rather than Orban.

Yeah, and this is the problem for sure. There are definitely some players that should be gone already and it is frustrating that some of them are still here. Dier, Tanganga, Reguilon, Ndombele and Hojbjerg are the ones for me that should be gone.

As much as we all hope it will be different, we have seen the Daniel Levy movie and all the sequels so many times. This fucking movie in the summer is like Die Hard at Christmas.

If he was serious about this rebuild, more of these players would be gone by now.
