I don’t know enough about him. It’s not clear to me we’re even all in on buying a striker. Ange has said we are looking at clearing out the squad before we bring anyone in. You call it dithering but I’m happy with the club’s priorities.

Personally I’m fine with the squad if we don’t sell Sanchez but if we do then we need another centreback.

I have faith in the rebuild and the vast improvement that will come from coaching and playing once a week.

I feel like an ambitious chairman would see that performance and look to get the final bits of business done with some aggression.

I worry that our Chairman sees that performance and thinks his work is done and that’ll do.

What’s the expected delta in performance for the investment?

I don’t know Orban but you’re placing a lot of stock in him hitting the ground running. Seems like a riskier deal to me… one for the future more than an immediate sensation: I might be wrong though.

I would like to get rid of 3 or 4 players and loan a couple more. Let’s see how Ange does this season, giving young players like Sarr, Udogie and van den Ven plenty of playing time and then add 2or 3 more pieces next year.

For me, this season is the one to give young players a lot of experience - including the mistakes that come with it - so that when we go back to playing twice a week next season, we’ll have a rich and competitive squad.

You want us to spend 30m on Orban to push us over the line… but you’re only going to do that if you think Orban can improve the team. What improvement in results are you expecting from him THIS season?

If Ange and the scouts see him as a good fit and someone who can come and score 30m worth goals for us then I’m all in. I don’t know if that’s the case though.

You brought up Orban out of nowhere and then insisted I answer your question about him.

If you’re all in on Orban and believe he’s going to make the difference in his first season then I can see why you’re anxious to get him. I think the odds are against that but I’d love to see you be correct!

I haven´t followed this thread for a few days, so it has probably been mentioned!

If we did a position by position comparison of our starting 11 to last season, I’d say overall we are better, correct?

GK - this team
LB - this team
RB - this team
LCB - this team
RCB - same player
6 - this team
8 - this team
8 - this team
LW - same
RW - same
CF - last season

Better at GK, better in the midfield, better at the back. Only poorer in the front 3.
 
I’ve had an epiphany, I don’t think we need Gift Orban or Furuhashi type profile. The last man runner in behind who gets 6 touches per half but one is a goal is not a good fit for the Premier League, especially with our wingers.

Bring me Ivan Toney. He makes our transitions god-like and strengthens our best asset - ball control. Give me a big fucker with excellent hold up play who allows us to keep the ball.

That’s the profile we’re looking for up top. Whether people realize it yet or not.
