55m seems pretty damned expensive... I've never seen him play. He really worth that?
55m is actually less than I had assumed Lille would want for David, they got considerably more than that for Victor Osimhen.

I think David is terrific. Two footed, works his ass off, an unusually good passer for a #9 and he really has a nose for goal. He's Canada's danger man almost more so than Alphonso Davies.

I'm terrified of the notion of anybody being given the anvil of "Harry Kane's Replacement", but in terms of suitability to play striker in the PL, David gets my seal of approval for sure.

Can he do anything in the air or hold up the ball? I must have missed that part of his game.

Every player carries a risk, but at the moment our football carries one.
So I'm all for it, this must have Ange approval so why not.

Agree with this.

Can't claim to know much about David outside of a couple of games I've watched but I am inclined to give out new setup the opportunity to get the business done they want done and then judge whether the move is a smart one.

Hold up the ball yes, he's good in possession generally.

I don't know that aerial prowess is really his strength though.

Canada's tactics are sort of a hardworking midblock press out of possession and then lightning direct counterattacks with their great pace. Pain in the ass team to play.
He does have good interplay with the ball at his feet and understanding of players around him, but I get 2nd striker not main CF from him.

He reminds me of an inferior version of Gabriel Jesus at the Scum, except David gets to inflate his goal total with penalties.

Jonathan David is Lille’s highest ever goalscorer in ligue 1. It’s not that significant because they’ve only been in the division since 2000 but
53 goals in 114 games is a strong record for a 23 year old. He’s ready to make the step up and France was the perfect place for him to grow as a player. He’s got a great attitude and Fonseca loves him.

Increasing optimism in Lille that they’ll keep him but the assumption for most of the summer was that he would leave. If there is a serious bid then he’s ours.

Jonathan David non-penalty goals against the rest of the Ligue 1 top six teams last season (PSG, Lens, Marseille, Rennes, Monaco): 1 in 10 matches. He's the most obvious trap I've seen, some Premier League club with bad recruitment will pay 60m for him and then be shocked he's the striker Pepe.

would he be a good fit for us in your opinion?

If that Jota is really getting released on a free by the Saudis, surely got to be worth a look.

What a weird situation that is.
Why??

How would you enjoy life living in a desert, surrounded by men dressed in bed sheets, and handkerchifs on their heads???

if angie wants to blow all our money on David or Johnson over the cheaper orban. Then thats fine, think he's already earnt everyone's trust
no he hasn't. A manager can be great tactically and for the morale of the team but that doesn't mean he's got a good eye for talent.

Poch showed that already.

We need to recruit after properly scouting players for ability, tatical fit and character.

I definitely take that point, about his off ball work, but I would just hope it’s something that can be worked on, as I don’t think he’s inherently lazy.

What’s Johnson’s off ball work like? I genuinely haven’t paid much attention to it.

He probably isn't. I don't think Son is particularly lazy, but he's not effective in his closing down. Too easy for United to progress the ball down their right side (first half at least)

I think Jonhson will put in a shift but it's not easy to tell from Forests games. The front three are just asked to get back to their deep positions, from there not work too hard and then be ready to counter
