No it’s not comparable, will be 20% lower this season (revenue). The rebuild needs to be funded elsewhereGiven our biggest rivals are spending approx 230m net this season and we're the ones who need to play catch-up and rebuild, something similar would be nice. Our revenue is extremely comparable and there is no reason for us to accept less.
We may have had a long-standing interest in David, but we're playing a completely different style now. If he fits it, great. But I wouldn't put anything into the fact we were interested in him in the past.another quite day, so as always he's some fresh inside scoops from the always reliable ITKS.
From COYS (Prof). I know some of you love a cryptic!
For those who like such things, a cryptic from Galahad:
"Hefty bid made for Jonathon David
![]()
Non-cryptic from another source: "Still plugging away to strengthen the CB position. Aim is to get in one more; possibly two if we can shift Sanchez or Dier."
And one more: "Would like both a winger and a striker, however the former is considered a higher priority. Although we continue to work on it, our top target on the winger list looks like he's going elsewhere. #2 has a release clause above our ceiling valuation. So we're moving forward with options #1 and #3 in parallel. All of them Ange-approved."

We've had a longstanding interest in David so doesn't surprise me one bit if we've put a big bid in for him.
They’ve been consistently explicit about their virtuous circle of reinvestment. All club profits go back into the team - it’s the mantra that underpins all the NFL and stadium stuff.
So we should be investing whatever profit we’ve made last season plus player sales.
Would it be that much different than playing as a marauding LCB under Conte's system (at least in the first year of Conte)?
Orban is the same age as Veliz. Why would he get minutes over the guy we just bought?

You don't think these murmurs might be bullshit for clicks from fans in Spain that want GLC to come back?
We should just fuck them off if theres no concrete offers going into last few days of window. Problem is they're on big wages.I'm more worryed about who we'll be selling to be honest, there's at least 5 players that should be already sold by this time.
I'm sure they're absolutely desperate for it. Maybe their clubs could offer more than 15m rather than inventing stories.
He's not had a single competitive minute on the pitch. Says a lot.
You realise Woolwich were spending 180-200m net even without European football to try and chase it?
It's very comparable.
Daniel Defoe, great for playing on Fridays.
The owners self-funded that spend?
If so, you will never see that from ENIC/Levy.
A guess. Given we seemed to be spending about 100m a year since Poch's final season, and we're in a very comfortable financial situation and our growing commercial revenue, that's what I went for.
Supposing we spend 150m a year for 3/4 years we should (in theory) have the core of a decent squad, so that we don't need to spend much for a while. Similar how RM bought stars like Benzema, Bale, Ronaldo, Ramos etc. and then had a very low net spend for like 5 years, cos all they needed to do was buy Courtois, and a bunch of wunderkinds from Brazil, while offloading the likes of Reguilon, Kovacic, and Morata for very nice fees.
"Above our ceiling valuation"another quite day, so as always he's some fresh inside scoops from the always reliable ITKS.

There was that fabled £150 million cash injection a couple of years ago, but I’m not sure how much was every actually used.As far as I'm aware they've put little to none of their own money in to the club.

I think with the money we are willing to spend, he would be somewhere around our limit give or take.Agree with this.
Can't claim to know much about David outside of a couple of games I've watched but I am inclined to give out new setup the opportunity to get the business done they want done and then judge whether the move is a smart one.
